Heroes of Stalingrad gameplay presented in realtime

Unread postby News Portal » 20 Aug 10, 12:04 pm

Years ago the games themed around WW2 were flooding the marketplace. With the likes of Call of Duty, Medal of Honor and Battlefield leading the pack (with more than a fair share of stinkers!) you couldn't seem walk into the gaming store without a new WW2 title gracing the shelves.

Now that all the leading FPS war franchises have made the jump into the present day and beyond, WW2 has become somewhat lost to the ages. Fortunately, [comp=419]Tripwire Interactive[/comp] has seen through the drought and been hard at work on [app=5489]Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad[/app], which by all accounts is looking simply delicious.

yep, back in 2004/05 there were RO competitions on Node servers. When RO was a mod for UT2004 it had a number of node servers. I remember playing against Jaunty (I think that was his name)

when it went stand alone there was still a node server.

Looks like the best close-combat war shooter ever.

- Intricate cover system
- Relatively high realism
- Squadplay
- COOP/SP bot ordering
- Eastern Front/Stalingrad setting
- None of the **** that's plagued COD since MW1

Character models and environment models look old, the AI looks stupid.

They might actually be old models, it is an alpha and they did say they were still using old sounds.

Since they're an indie team I don't expect the model quality to be the best. Nor do I really care about how good the graphics are, I'm more interested in the gameplay.

They're on minimum difficultly and they can be improved before release.

Frankly most AI in games are stupid, they just have perfect aiming and x-ray vision.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with what Snazz said. Gameplay is much more important than graphics. Any word if there will be a demo?

There have been rumors of a big beta before release.
The graphics could do with a bit of tuning before release but they look pretty good to me as they are currently.

I just hope its on extremely relaxed realism as I don't like the names over head at 50m, or the minimap.
