Most people are happy to buy a nice TV anyway since you can then watch TV on it. On the rare occasion something worth watching is on!

The real stumbling block for MMOs on consoles isn't the smaller number of buttons it's the extra certification hurdles involved. If you've ever played an actively maintained MMO you'll know that at times patches can come down every couple of days, sometimes. And console makers are understandably protective of their platforms, so they won't want an MMO bricking thousands of them.

Plus people on consoles are still coming to terms with the paid multiplayer thing, at least in the West. Microsoft has an uphill battle just charging for Gold access, people go nuts when there's a suggestion of another fee on top of that for an MMO.

Anyway. Getting off point.

Despite these changes to MW2 and their inevitable evolution for next year's MW3 ( ) PC will remain a good gaming platform because it has the lowest barrier to entry for developers (don't need Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo's approval to get a dev kit) and the lowest barrier to entry for gamers - price issues aside, a PC is useful for more than just entertainment purposes where gaming consoles typically are not.

Yes, this is very unfortunate. I mean, I said they should be able to coexist without any problems but sadly, that doesn't mean it's going to happen. However, I think that "dumbing down" PC games to a point where everyone can play is a great idea, as long as there is still a formidable challenge waiting for the "hardcore". Recall how Blizzard has changed WoW (if you're aware of it). Contrary to the past, most of the content is now able to experienced by almost anyone, yet there are still much more challenging versions of the same content available to those that want to go further. PC and consoles can certainly cater to niche audiences, but that doesn't necessarily mean meshing some aspects of both is a bad thing.

IW really could have taken advantage of this... philosophy, albeit at a much smaller scale, by releasing their game with not only IW.net but dedicated servers as well.

Most people buy PCs for reasons other than gaming and other entertainment. Why not go just a bit further so you can play all the latest games as well? It's the same thing, just different crowds.
