The developers of DEFCON are currently seeking submissions from academics and the average Joe alike in a bid to develop a fearsome AI for their game that can be crowned the "most efficient killing machine". DEFCON, with its cheerful tag line of "Everybody Dies", is an end of the world simulator developed by Introversion Software, in which full scale nuclear war and the populations of the world perishing are both regular occurrences.

Given the fact that DEFCON is inspired by the film Wargames, in which a computer AI teeters on the brink of unleashing a nuclear arsenal upon humanity, this concept of an "unbeatable AI" could be considered both a terrifying and enchanting prospect. The AI project is a partnership between The Imperial College Department of Computing and the developers of the game, Introversion Software.

What's the game like? I kinda remember seeing the game released, but never actually read about it etc.

as much as I love defcon, I'm over it.. but that's only because something amazing is coming up from Introversion. I love defcon don't get me wrong, hell I love Uplink too but this new game just looks beyond anything they've tried before.

Oh and before anyone says it "eww those are just empty buildings" the original concept art for the game had Computers, Desks, Chairs and all kinds of office equipment. (plus they just recently added Elevators to all the buildings). This game is going to get massive pretty quick.

This is just one of those very simplistic games that end up having a lot of depth in it. it is a good little game for lans when you need something slower. Playing multiplayer games with no teams set, means you make and break deals/allies at the drop of a hat to better your position. A very interesting insight to humanity.
