As we watch 2008 log off and 2009 jump into gear, we are looking back at some of our highlights for all the fantastic games released this year. It wasn't easy and with so many big titles and great games coming out there was much debate in the Newsbot den as to what game should take out the Games on Net 2008 Awards.

What will be labelled the top games in the consoles? Which was our favourite PC hit? What other awards do we have to give out? All will be explained inside as we round up the year by letting you guys know what we did and didn't like.

Personally, I found Echochrome on PSP to be a real disappointment.

God of War: Chains of Olympus and Secret Agent Clank were both superior, IMO. edit: LocoRoco 2 was better too...

edit: and yes, "World of Goo" is a fantastic game - kudos for mentioning it.

Not a bad list, although I would've loved to see braid in that list, if only because I'm a salivating fanboy..

yeah not a bad list thou I really don't think Far Cry 2 was that disappointing, sure I'd have loved an actually sandbox fps rather then an open world linear game that we got and the multilayer was horrible at launch even if its a bit better now.

However the biggest disappointment of the year was without a doubt GTA4 PC Launch and social club imo. It still has big problems but at the launch it was just horrible. The game underneath is still amazing and should have been game of the year on both Xbox360 and Ps3 but the PC launch was such a massive disappointment to me.

The gazillionth and 1 of these lists now online.. congrats for competing with the global market... read a dozen of these ... this one is alot more far off than most of the other i've read and agree with.

Good list, agree with most. Bad implementation had to go to Spore.

The list was good However i like to read more information as to why instead of one of two sentences. Probably not much time with all the holidays so alls forgiven. Ive only worked 2 days in 2 weeks so i understand

I would be hesitant to call farcry 2 a disappointment, like krogan said the mp is "getting better" id go a step further and say its quite awesome, however most games show a ping of 9999 but u can still join them and ive yet to encounter and lag in any game ive joined. The level editor is exceptionally easy to work with compared to ones from crysis and ut and theres some amazing user created content out there, last night i played a game with about 8 people on two opposing pirate ships! Sp wasn't top notch, i never played much, but the mp more than makes up for it.

And pc instead of audiosurf whichh i was certain came out in 2007 however may be wrong, runner up best pc game left4dead... exceptionally great game with the best implementation of co-op ever in a game.

FC2 was a dismal let down for me personally. Never heard of World of Goo before but have just started with the demo and liking it so far, very clever and intuitive, thanks for the heads up.

Especially MGS4 best PS3 game this year and FarCry2 being biggest let down.

This really puts PC Gaming in 2008 in perspective for me, what a terrible year.

ahh spore what a total dissapointment.

and yes left4dead should be included in runner up of best pc game in my opinion.

I live in his area he is meant to represent. ive sent 3 emails to him and his secretary, and i havent even got a generic reply...

mick atkinson doesnt know the meaning of the word democracy and i think if the only way to get his attention is to raise a nazi flag in your backyard thats pretty bad . he gets me so angry.
