Massive Entertainment finds a new home with Ubisoft

We all knew that the Activision Blizzard merger would have some casualties, but we were still saddened by the news that Swedish-based Massive Entertainment, developers of fan-favourite World in Conflict came out of the business deal without a publisher.

Today however, we have some good news for you - World in Conflict: Soviet Assault is back on the cards, with Ubisoft pleased to announce that they have acquired "the assets and all of the personnel" from Massive (including the World in Conflict real time strategy brand), for an undisclosed sum.

Now I hope Massive make a ..massive amount of $$ and make Act/Blizz wish they had them still.

Great devs and I really love the opinions of the lead dev for WiC, but I fear that ubisoft is going to strip them of what made them a unique and talented development company.

Fun times ahead. The game is still going strong, but the local clan scene is somewhat dead, the quality of local players or clans in the Australia / Asia time zone leads my band of players repeatedly playing the same russian clan which proves little of a challenge

Hopefully, the release of Soviet Assault will see the player numbers pick back up.

lol holo. It's like the Russians don't know how to play.

Blactivision, as I like to call them, are only going to be doing WoW clones/expansions, so they don't need development studios like massive. It's a good thing a big name like Ubi picked em up. While Ubi has a history of ( pretty horrible ) DRM, they'd better not put any on WIC:SA, otherwise I won't buy it, along with lots of others.
