After emerging from beneath a large pile of games to write this week’s column, I can’t help but think how much I love this time of year. Sun in the sky (for a few hours in Melbourne, at least), non-scorching weather and major game releases each and every week. The upcoming Christmas break even facilitates the ability to play these newly acquired games for decent stretches of time. One has to feel sorry for those working in retail during this avalanche – before you chastise them for forgetting your little pre-order trinket or not remembering the difference between your mah-jong games, consider that they’re regular people with real feelings, and having over 200 new releases to track and lines full of other people to serve kind of makes it difficult to remember everything.

This week, The Warp Pipe will continue its Sega Mega Drive 20th anniversary celebration with a look at the machine’s fall from grace.

I'll say again. Where the hell is Fatal Fury on that list! that game PWNED!

However I agree entirely that Sonic 3 and Knuckles is the greatest sonic game ever made, it was the best thing Sega had ever envisioned and proves to those Sonic Adventure fanbois that Sega Japan is stupid for developing not 1 but 2 consoles that spawned failure after failure of crappy sonic games.. the latest being Sonic and the Black Knight /FAIL.

I hope that Sega catches the Mega Man 9 virus.. Will we see a Sonic 4? I SURE fsck HOPE SO!!! But they have to get Sega US or their Academy in the US to do the game because Sega Japan is just hopeless at developing anything really.. they just plain suck! Also Sonic Team is just bullshit! don't get them to do ANYTHING anymore cause they suck beyond anything I've seen come out of Sega.

It's sad though to think that the REAL sonic 4 "aka Sonic Mars which I'm trying to develop a clone of" would never happen though you could blame that on the designers screwing up the SPEED elements and focusing too much on Double Dragon styled gameplay instead- not that its bad though its just not very SONIC like but it still plays like a sonic game.

Those also wondering, Earth Worm Jim 4 has been announced and confirmed.. ITS GONNA HAPPEN! YAY! and the TV Series will making a return! (also rumors of a Film too)

Also I'd like to add Where the hell is The Lost Vikings? Quite possibly one of the best Blizzard Console games I've ever played.

Earthworm Jim was so awesome. I loved that level where he's outside his suit with beethoven's moonlight sonata playing throughout. My favourite megadrive game was probably road rash, where you race motorbikes while trying to knock everyone else off their bike using clubs and chains.
