Which Printer

Hi All, my wife has decided that she wants a good printer for xmas so that she can start printing photos on. I have no idea of printers in any shape or form, cost of printing etc

She is only using a 7mp camera at the moment so she is not looking at huge pics or nething on a professional level so am looking to find a happy medium. The one thing she would really like is the ability to print photos in a Matte finish.


Any help and direction would be greatly appreciated.

I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but personally: I find it cheaper to take the images to the local Harvey Norman and get them printed.
The inks and paper are (generally) far better quality than what you have accessible at home, and the maintenance headache becomes their problem.

cant go wrong with canon ink may be alittle more but its always been a good benchmark
