SplitFish’s Amazing New FPS-centric Controller Series

Unread postby News Portal » 9 Sep 10, 11:59 am

Competition grows increasingly fierce in the ever-raging world of first-person shooters, and it’s to the stage now where waving one’s iron sight around in imprecise hysteria will lead to merciless death 100% of the time, every time. SplitFish have decided to leap to the aid of firefight boffins serious about their digital warfare, however, and have just announced the release date for their ground-breaking new FRAGFX controller series for PS3, PC, and Mac.

GAME were selling the fragfx controllers for PS3 ages ago, they are **** horrible, I personally only tried the wireless version, it had massive lag problems. Tried playing MAG and killzone 2 (offline) a few times with it.

Aye, although I think that Killzone 2's problem is that the control system is just kludgy... There is always this feeling like you're moving through wet cement.

COD:MW was much more responsive with the Fragfx though and I went from 'freaking hopeless' to middle of the pack (I'm a PC gamer, just got a few free FPS when I bought the thing for the wife to use as a media center.. ; )

The first controller was freaking horrible though, it's true. The buttons were all **** (no microswitches!!) and the mouse was tiny, so my meaty paws just didn't suit them...

I would also imagine you would have to have a funky lounge set up to be able to use the thing in the first place.
I am not sure why some ppl hate pc gaming that much consoles are turning into the poors man pc anyway.

lol @ piranha being made specifically for PS3 but lacks sixaxis support :P

keyboards need a joystick, really starting to notice with games like Mafia 2 how much better movement is with a joystick compared to wasd, namely that you can walk and have different movement speeds by just pushing the joystick to different degrees instead of just having 2 movement speeds with keyboard if the game supports shift for running/walking
*Insert negative stuff here.*

Absolutely agree, i tend to play all third person games with a 360 controller these days, the WSAD non analog control just doesn't cut it for me anymore. Shooters though i much prefer the keyboard.

yea, atm i'm playing Mafia 2, walking and driving I use my 360 controller but keep switching back to keyboard/mouse when combat starts, getting annoying actually the constant switching, if only the controller wasn't broken in regards to combat :(

Can not wait for this controller. I have used splitfish controllers for over 2 years and they work so well. Nice that the controller takes 2 AA total instead of 6AAA like the pro. The design looks sick as well. The controller is already beast and now they are making it better. Going to be so much fun to use.

Mr_Cyberpunk wrote:Don't blame the controller, blame the port ;) the only reason why the controler would play better is because the developer really couldn't be fsck re-designing the game to work optimally on a PC. Many developers have done it, its just lazy.

while what you say is true I still think we miss out on some things due to the digital on/off nature of keyboards, there's no middle ground for things like movement

If you really want analog movement on PC, without sacfricing mouse aim, just get a gamepad and only hold it with your left hand, use your right hand for the mouse.
Any half-decent game should accept input from both at once - and if not you should be able to come up with something using button/axis mapping in your gamepad/mouse/keyboard software.

I was actually thinking of trying something like that the other day

I thought Penguin United's solution looked better for PC people playing on their console;

That's if any of them actually work now after the 3.50 firmware update. It's already confirmed by users that the FragFX v1 and v2 no longer work.
