Built-in 3G support seems the next logical step for portable consoles, especially when you live somewhere it doesn't cost the equivalent of a week's wages to use regularly, or can't find free wireless to mooch off. So why isn't anybody doing it?

Maybe they are. Japanese telco NTT DoCoMo have revealed current negotiations with unnamed video game companies to implement exactly that.

I'd love it if the Big N put a 3G Micro-SIM slot in the 3DS. Sony might do it on the PSP2, but then that might not come out for another 2 years knowing Sony.

Cool idea assuming they keep WiFi in and update it to support all encryptions and be highly compatible, my DSLite hates my encryption at home and im not lowering to play some marioz.
