Metro 2033 Comp: Day 3

Unread postby News Portal » 20 Mar 10, 1:00 pm

Today's your last chance to win one of our Metro 2033 runners-up prizes, consisting of over $700 worth of Logitech swag. In our review, we said that the Metro 2033 House of Horrors makes F.E.A.R. and BioShock seem like Disney rides for kiddies. So we want you to come up with a Metro 2033-themed amusement park ride.

I'd re enact the mini coup scene from the Italian Job remake. Except with more guns and Russian metro areas.

I'd start everyone off in a roller coaster ride through the metro tunnels with ambient noise of creatures running around and all that creepy stuff. Then I'd do the scariest thing of all the tunnel would then suddenly burst into a pitch black tunnel to confuse and disorientate. A few seconds later it would light up with pictures of Michael Atkinson and words like net filter, no r18+ and so on and so forth. Oh and at the end your made to listen to him give a speech.

Now thats scary..........It'd be like the Arnold Rimmer roller coaster in Red Dwarf :P

I would make a indiana jones style Metro new age 3d glasses wearing roller coaster ride where your small cart full of friends and you have to make quick choices on which routes you must go in the tunnels.... some leading to worse some leading to walking parts where you have to venture a cavern or tunnel system to get to your exit and along the way you have to use laser tag systems with the 3d glasses to shoot enemies, u don't kill enough of them then the area locks up and you must emergency exit door the ride. i kind of L4d experience/metro. on top of this you get a guide like khan in the glasses to help you through the dark when all the lights go out etc. and a spot light for where you look in the glasses guiding you, but no spot light can be seen without the glasses... spooky

i think that would best represent the game in real form from what "can be done" via todays methods, all beit expensive

Ride a Monster

Similar to bull riding of the past, you will ride a monster of your choice. You will be given rope to hold on to, and a knife. It's up to you how to play, but when it is released - you will be in for the ride of your life - literally!. Adults over 150cm are recommended to ride one of these : Image

Whereas kids should start off riding these guys: Image

Some like to end it quick, some like to savour the fun/kill - but hold on tight and dont stay on for too long... or you may end up... wasting your $7.50.

The Log Ride from Disney, having replaced the water with the irradiated water. Throughout the tunnels, you have to randomly equip a gasmask to survive pockets of radioactive gasses. Whilst thundering down the drop off toward your irradiated water bath, you also have to duck several overhead objects. At the bottom you have to fight off various monsters with a 5 shot revolver, and 15 rounds of ammo.

Then you get given a complimentary picture of your trip through Metro 2033 - The Ride!

Nothing says amusement park like a roller-coaster, and perhaps long queues, but mainly roller-coasters.

Patrons will enter the Metro: 2033 ride through the now iconic Metro entrance with long icicles hanging down under the authentically rusted sign, replete with "You have to be at least this high, to go on this ride." sign outside. Guards in-costume will usher the patrons through to the bar area where they each get to choose a single weapon and some limited ammo, and get given their protective masks with headlamps. These are gas powered paintball guns, pretty simple in operation, point the nasty end at something and pull the trigger. Given a quick safety course with their new armament, they then exit this safe-haven into the ride itself through a large, heavily reinforced vault door. Here they board a small, makeshift, open topped rail-carriage. Each carriage starts moving down into the metro, with the light of the bar fading quickly as the door groans shut. They are soon plunged into darkness and silence, with their only solace being their headlamps. As they move deeper into the tunnels audio cues kick in, simulating the hollow echoes of the tunnel system. Moving ever onward the patrons will start to hear odd sounds mixed in with the usual hollow echoes and reverb. Low growls, shrieks and scuffling noises as if something has fled the approaching noise of the carriage on the track. Light appears ahead and they near a small encampment. But as they pass they will see that there are no guards or people there, it shows signs of a violent encounter with something. Further down the tunnel they see a light moving, as if it's coming closer, then it stops and is suddenly jerked to the side, with a loud scream piercing the silent echoes. Suddenly their carts start juddering about, speeding up, slowing down, with the motor noise growing and shrinking as if something is the wrong. The power is failing on the motor and it's not log before they finally grind to a halt. Eerie silence settles on them. Silence, soon punctuated by sounds of movement, low growls can be heard, getting closer. At this stage the patrons need to defend their carts against pop-up, mechanised recreations of the mutants from Metro 2033 the game. Whilst the carriage struggles to regain power. Sounds and movement will cue a mutants approach, for each mutant active, the carriage motor sound grows quieter, for each mutant dispatch by the adventurers, the engine noise grows louder. Eventually when all mutants are dispatched the carriage regains power and hurtles off away from the combat and mutant remains. Propelling them down twisting, winding corridors. Slow climbs are followed by sudden drops as the cart plunges through the metro at break-neck (by very safe) speeds. Eventually light appears towards the end of the tunnel and the carriage slows down as it exits into a frozen wasteland. In the distance the patrons can see the Metro: 2033 sign, coated in ice, but it seems a long way away, and the carriage is out of power now, they are greeted by an in-costume fellow adventurer, who instructs them to mount the nearby 4x4, and he will drive them back to the safety of the bar. As they set out, a huge mechanically animated recreation of the large winged mutant from Metro 2033, swoops down and latches on to the 4x4, picking the entire vehicle up as it tries to fly off with it. Swooping and diving around the the theme park, above the recreated frozen wasteland, the patrons fight the mutant off with their remaining ammo. Eventually after it's exhausted flight, the mutant is too injured to continue and drops the vehicle off outside the bar, and then flies away with an ear-splitting roar.

Patrons are then ushered through the bar to the gift shop where they can buy their novelty Metro: 2033 watches depicted below.

A roller coaster ride in a metro tunnel, with flicking lights, noises of things unseen, shadows cast of the hideous monsters which inhabit the tunnels.

The roller coaster comes to a sudden stop, the lights flicker and die. The tunnel fills with the sound of scraping and grunts, distant at first and then slowly grow louder and louder. A light quickly turns on and on the walls of the tunnel the mutants, from the metro game, hang from the walls. The roller coaster then shoots away with the sounds of the mutants giving chase, their roars filling the tunnel.

The roller coaster, once again, travelling a decent speed traverses through winding tunnels with lights flashing. The sound of the mutants getting further away. The ride starts to slow, the lights get dimer and dimer until the ride comes to a complete stop. As a massive roar fills the tunnels, the light suddenly reveals one of those huge winged beasts.

Then the lights turn on and the ride is over, people leave and are forever scared.

One of those tilting spaceship things with the massive screen in front of it, only its slightly interactive. The train systems of the metro are running, but with no connected carriages. Each train is a lone compartment. Some tunnels are dead ends, others drop off, others are simply filled with mutants. The "Player" has to jump between carriages when they pass each other to avoid their current carriage filling with mutants or flying into a collapsed wall and getting a "Game over". Successfully avoiding the virtual threats lets the train continue into the metro.

The objective is to reach the other end of the metro system and safety. The player can't touch the ground.

If you've been to Disneyland in LA, think of the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom ride, but have it in the Metro theme.... loads of darkness with expected twist and turns.

My Metro 2033 Theme attraction would be more like an interactive experience walking through the recreated world of 2033.

First you would sign legal agreement and agree to terms and conditions of entry (to deter negative people ruining the experience)
Then You would be given a sized outfit to wear, mask, Equipment and a BB, Gun with blanks that go bang or laser Gun. After being briefed on the mission at hand, you and your task will be sent with your guide through a tunnel system and other various areas of metro 2033 like the market and town area. There will be actors playing out peasants and guards and shopkeepers interacting with you, then a Bomb will go off shaking the area and red lights will flash.
the guide will tell you that your group will be needed up front to defend the city, and you must hurry.

On your way whilst running through a tunnel someone in a beast suit will jump across the tunnel and grab the hidden actor amongst your group who will be grabbed and dragged into a smaller tunnel hall screaming " ahh help me help" and the guide will say its too late for him he was an unlucky one we must hurry.

Then you get to defend beasts rushing your front line with your Gun and watch the carnage unfold with actors interacting with each other.

After a few beasts you will be thanked and sent either out a door to the outside or back into a room to return your gear.

Ride over. make your way to the souvenir shop to get items or to get a photo of your metro defence, dress up again to get your picture taken as a survivor in metro 2033.

A train ride, Metro 2033 theme. You travel through scenes from Disney Worlds, except naturally they are post apocalyptic. Mickey Mouse is a giant mutant rat, Alice has even more messed up eyes than that new apparition, poker cards are alive, turtles are humanoid ninjas (....er?) etc.

It be funny for the old kids and scary for the young. Think of it as the Kingdom Hearts of horror.

Through the eyes of an experienced one

Today 20th of March, 2010. A new ride was opened by an unknown company that no one had ever heard of before. A company that has no existence, no history, or even finance history on how it was created and built up to match how much reputation it has gained within a matter of a few hours. Everyone is talking about this ride and the company. The ride is called Metro 2033 created by the mysterious company... The Dark Ones.

Image

As you approach the the front of the subway you glance a look at the building and instantly start to feel your hairs lift off the back of your neck and feel a sudden chill all over your body as your skin starts to feel irritated as you accumulate lumpy bumps as what you would call goosebumps.

As you stroll up to the long queue, you notice the janitors and worksmen are very dark, quiet and extremely mysterious. As you take note of a sign in front of you it notes: "Only open after 8:30pm". While you stand in the queue you hear screaming inside the Metro 2033 from the people that entered the dark cold subway earlier that evening. You hear people around you talking about the ride, saying that there are rumours that people haven't come out and disapeared. Some are pondering "Why isn't there an exit?" or even, "Where is the exit?".

Image

As you step inside the Metro 2033 along with 5 other people, the first room you walk into is all rubble and old and modern looking. The first breath you take in sinks in really deep into your stomach, creating swirls and turns in your stomach as your body starts up a process as you would call "butterflies in your stomach". The smell is that bad you have to either handle it or hold your hands over your mouth and nose. It's undescribable as to what it is or could be...

You walk further through the room as you try to stomach the reflux crawling up your chest until you reach the other side..

Image

You come to a hallway. There is a cold breeze that brushes your cheeks and through your hair. You breath in and find out it's fresh and relieving. But, you look up and take a glance down the hallway and you suddenly feel that rush of hairs and cold shivers down your spine as you hear very faint screams coming from the end of the hallway. You take a gulp and start moving forward while taking note that the walls were wrecked and the ground was rugged and you see lights outside shine through the windows as your only guide through this hallway.

You reach the end of the cold hallway and you arrive at..

Image

The escalators... You take a glance down the escalators and see flickering lights and you can still feel that cold breeze as it's coming from the very bottom. You start heading down and suddenly hear more faint screams from an earlier group. Everyone stops moving in a fright and frowns but can only proceed forward as it's the only way out.

You reach the bottom of the escalators and pass under the flickering light and just beyond the flickering light you notice a not fully torn but lightly shredded poster hanging that says "Welcome to Metro 2033".

As you keep moving forward you approach the subway platform. You have a sudden thought pushed into your head as you start to feel "depressed". You step forward and you hear the echo of your shoes hitting the ground as you keep stepping forward. As you take a glance to your left you notice an old photo on the wall.

Image

The old photo looks like a splitting image of this subway as what it used to look like. The subway now looks old and very rugged, the pipes in the ceiling are leaking water as you can hear the sound of an echo through the subway tunnel as you hear drip drip drip.

You hear more screams echo down the subway tunnel as you jump out of your skin you spin around and start breathing fast and now you stomach is really starting to curtle. You look up to the ceiling and it has an old sign that says "Waiting area". Seconds later the train arrives..

Image

The train makes a screeching sound that echos down the subway tunnel as it stops at the platform. You suddenly think to yourself, "Maybe it was the train that was making the scream noises we kept hearing?". You step inside the train, you hear a very low faint song playing from the speaker box on repeat, and then you smell a god awful odor that you cannot stomach at all as you quickly reflex hold your breath and raise your hands to your nose and mouth. The train doors close making a screeching sound and then the train starts moving slowly. After a while the trains pace picks up, it picks up even more and more till it's going extremely fast. The lights in the train go out and you hear a roaring sound from within the carriage. You let out a great scream as well do your other passengers. One is screaming "Please stop, please stop I want to go home!!".

Then suddenly... ... ... ... it was quiet...

The train doors open as the lights come back on. A tall guy armed with a machine gun walks in the carriage. He says in a russian accent "Hi, I'm my name is Artyom. Welcome to the year 2033."

Your eyes widen and you first throught was... "Wait, what? Did he say 2033?? I guess they were right outside in the queue... You really don't come back out..."
I believe whatever doesn't kill you, simply makes you... stranger
