God tell me about it I went over there to find some info (level cap, how many ships you can own etc) and it looks like the WoW crowd are in full swing.

Lots of people comparing it to EvE and that's kinda retarded the only thing they share is space and lasers.

I have sadly become an MMO-sceptic over the last few years. Most, if not all MMO's offer very little innovation and tend to stick to the tried and true grind format. It's sad really, considering MMO's are still a very risky busieness, that if you don't offer something fresh you are more likely to see it fail.

So that said, what does STO offer to make it stand out from every other MMO out there?

Though I wouldn't put it so bluntly. Has anyone gotten an Open Beta key from this yet?

I haven't got one and my response number was pretty close to frost_666's. Did this need to come from an internode email address, or would anything do (presuming of course I was in the first 500)?

The game is great, I'm at the level cap at the moment just doing some kick arse fleet action. The " state of the game address" in there forums which was released today said that they would be releasing the rest of the content over this week.

The space and ground combat is quiet good for a MMO, the in depth ground level based combat don't really take off until after 20+, space combat is pretty insane from the get go and the best thing is there is 50 ranking levels from the get go.
