Socceroos: Asian cup!

Unread postby jmcev » 8 Jan 11, 10:41 am

Group A
1 Uzbekistan
2 China
3 Kuwait
4 Qatar

Group B
1 Japan
2 Jordan
3 Saudi Arabia
4 Syria

Group C
1 Australia
2 Bahrain
3 India
4 Korea Republic

Group D
1 Iran
2 Iraq
3 Korea DPR
4 United Arab Emirates

In my honest opinion, if we don't make the semi's I'll probably jump ship from the Socceroos permanently. We have the 2nd easiest group, Group D being the hardest and Group B being the easiest.

Our line up is looking solid, I just hope for no injuries in key players like Cahill. I also hope that the refereeing isn't as bad in the cup as it was in the UAE trial match, that **** was **** retarded.

Discuss etc.

Well it was a decent game, midfield showed great control against a much weaker opponent, will be interesting to see if Korea can show the same discipline. I hope the back 4 shrug off their complacency, but im glad no goals were scored against us.

Bring on Korea, will be a good match.

4-0 is an alright score. Maybe Australia even has a chance of winning this...

Well it's not that we have no hope, we could beat every team in this comp, we have the players to do so convincingly, we just have a choking problem. The next game is the test, if we successfully control and beat Korea, well I'd say the other teams will have something to fear. I will be so **** angry if we draw with them.

Feel sorry for UAE...they're in the same group with all three "Axis of Evil" countries!

Interesting match vs Bahrain. I think Bahrain were unlucky not to pull a draw. With the amount of possession Australia had it was disappointing they we lacked so much in attack. Well done to Jedinak on that great strike.

With that win, we finish top of the table and face Iraq (who have a history of beating us) in the quarter finals. Group C and D match ups will be the games to watch.
