World Cup 2010

Unread postby ub3r » 20 May 10, 8:36 am

Well there is under a month now till kick-off, how do you think it will play out? who are your picks for the winners? Think Australia can break the group stage?

Personally I can see Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Germany and England all with a chance at taking out the WC, England are outside odds, but they have a solid team this year, and Argentina have the potential, but I wonder how they will come together

Australia is totally different from last WC, they only lost by 1 goal by italy in the quarter finals, and now i think they can at least get in the semi's.

Looking at the scores, france oh boy they really have gone bad, but they should of won the last WC, but i hope they can improve

Spain i think would win, looking at the scores they seem to be smashing the teams.

I think its going to between spain and brazil, or spain and portugal

Good thing grosso is not in the team that cheater :P

My tip is Spain.
I don't think Australia can make it out of their group, but I'll be up every night hoping I'm wrong!

Aussies will have a tough time.

Maybe as an outsider ... PORTUGAL.

But I think England may win it.

people like to bring up how "tough" our group is, I actually think Australia is better than Ghana and on par with Serbia, so that just leaves Germany as a better team. Will we be able to topple Germany round 1? perhaps, an outside chance. Serbia? Sure i would say 50/50, Ghana? 70/30 our way.

its the elimination rounds that will be hard for Australia, there are a lot of potential winners this year, a lot.

I'd say that's a TAD optimistic. Would love to see it, but we don't have Aussie Guus the supercoach this time, just his lite alternative, Aussie Pim. And our players aren't in great touch outside Schwarzer and Cahill, Kewell and Bresciano in particular.

I think Aus will make it out of the group stage in the same manner as they did in 2006, i.e 1 win (Ghana), 1 loss (Germany) and 1 draw (Serbia)

But I'm tipping a Germany v Spain final. Initially I thought Germany might get up but seeing all the injuries they've get Spain might pip them.

Not sure about Argentina, they only just managed to qualify!

I want to see Aus do well, but I see them struggling in their group. Germany will be too strong even without Ballack. Ghana will be un-predictable (like most African teams) and will either play us off the park or flop. Serbia aren't to be underestimated either, expect tough games for us.

Ger 2 - 0 Aus
Ghana 1 - 1 Aus
Serbia 1 - 0 Aus

As for the other teams, either Spain, Argentina, Germany, Brazil and England as the dark horse as long as Rooney and Rio are fit, Gerrard in form and David James not to **** up, although I reckon he will at least once.

C'MON ENGLAND, C'MON ENGLAND, C'MON ENGLAND!!

How can England be a dark horse when they are 3rd price favourites? :P

I reckon they are :P As much as I want them to win, final 8 is as far as I reckon they'll get. :(
