Can't believe they are giving Lesnar a title shot when he is 2-1 MMA 1-1 UFC.

winner of this bout fights winner of Nog/Mir for united belt early next year.

It's almost like they're doing it because he's popular with WWE fans/fggts.

It's all about $ I guess, but its not really all that unusual as far as how long hes been in the UFC. Stolen from MMA Junkie...

-Anderson Silva gets a title shot at UFC 64 after beating Chris Leben in his debut UFC fight. He was 2-1 in his previous three fights (the same as Lesnar is now).

-BJ Penn gets a welterweight title shot at UFC 46 despite having never fought a welterweight bout in the UFC, AND not having fought a bout in the UFC in nearly a year, AND with his previous bout being a draw, with his last win in the UFC over Matt Serra.

-Rampage Jackson gets a LHW title fight against Chuck Liddell at UFC 71 despite having only one UFC LHW bout, a win against non-contender Marvin Eastman.

-Big Nog, at UFC 81 (where Lesnar made his UFC debut), received a title shot after beating Heath Herring in Nog's UFC debut, the same man Lesnar beat prior to this upcoming title shot with Couture. At that point. Nogueira was 2-1 in his previous three fights, and had not held or fought for a title in over three years.

and finally.....

Randy Couture, at UFC 68, gets a title fight against Tim Sylvia for the HW title, despite being 2-3 in his previous five fights (all at LHW), AND having not fought a HW bout in FIVE YEARS, AND coming off of a loss to Chuck Liddell for the LHW title.

The main difference is that he hasn't got much of an overall MMA record.

Thaigo Silva has been injured and has pulled out of his fight with Machida at UFC89 :( I hope they can find a good challenging replacement, Machida needs a step up of opponent, not a step down!

UFC 88: great mate. Everything on the PPV was great.

I'll give it a day or 2 at least before I talk about any of the results.

with the brock randy match i honestly dont know whos going to win, brock is a horrible match up for randy, though we dont really know how good his wrestling is as the times hes gone for a takedown in his 3 fights to far they werent exactly technically sound but they were effective and he will be 40 odd pounds heavier then randy.

though big nog will regain his title very soon as he would trash brock mire and randy, really as nog is tied up with tu it should be werdum v randy though

Penn's round head will get him through. :P

Nah, GSP will win - convincingly i'm not so sure.

in their first fight gsp lay n preyed to vitory after copping alot more damage, and his standup is still suspect, id give bj and thiago alves the 2 best shots at disthroning him

thiago vs diego should be good but the size diff will be huge

I get the feeling that Big Nog is going to just keep going until his head finally breaks in half and he expires messily in the middle of the ring, and even after that he won't tap. He looked fairly slow against Timmy Silvia, but due to his indestructability and his awesome JJ he managed to win anyway, I suspect it will be the same with Lesnar, despite how freakishly quick he is. Against Randy, I'd have to pick Randy managing to grind out a decision... he is too smart and too experienced to fall into a trap.

I'm finding Lesnar vs Couture hard to pick as well, but I've made the mistake of tipping against Couture before, which lead me to vow never to doubt him again, except against Fedor :) It would be a crying shame if Mr-WWE-with-a-phallic-object-tattooed-to-his-chest came in and beat a living legend like Randy in his fourth match, too.

On the other hand, rather ominously, Couture won his first UFC title in his 4th professional MMA bout.

Watching lesner in his last fight, he was in dominant positions alot but couldn't hold them/ didn't know what to do....

On another note.... I was heart broken watching The iceman being knocked out..... but you could sort of see it coming because he fights with such an open guard.
