Project Reality BF2 mod updated to v0.9

Unread postby News Portal » 6 Feb 10, 1:21 am

Not long ago, The Mod Squad took an [news=6926]extremely impressed look[/news] at the [app=1125]Project Reality[/app] Battlefield 2 mod. If our undisguised delight in the tough-as-nails perennial favourite didn't get you jumping onto the field, maybe the latest update will! Yesterday saw the release of v0.9, which brings with it new factions, maps, vehicles, weapons, and updated gameplay modes.

hey guys sorry for plugging it still but its a really great mod when you get into it heaps better than Arma 2 and other first person war sims. :2gunsfiring_v1: A great reason to dust off your BF2 discs again.

If you interested in talking to other community members that regulary play and some of the aussie developers of the mod jump over to http://www.bigdgaming.net/.

Also Gaming AU currently has 3 servers running the mod with Server 1 (new maps) Server 2 (all maps) and Server 3 (co-operative with bots). Hope to see some of you in gmae

Well if I remember correctly BEEX is unhappy and wishes to sue the PR dev team for damages as someone from the PR dev team allegedly stole game art (models/skins) from Aus Forces, a game modification that is not being sold for a profit by the developers, for another game modification (PR) that is also not being sold for a profit.

If you really felt strongly about this, you would've sued them ages ago.

the whole texture is not completly made by myself i have copyed accross some parts from the australian forces mod
would like to thank BEEX for hes Bushmaster model he made that i used as a ref model

He told the community he used your model and texture as a reference, thanked and credited you for it. If he hadn't he would of been banned from the PR forums like actual plagiarists have.

His developer status is now retired, so unless someone more active takes the task we might not see the ADF faction in PR after all.

His tag on the PR forums went from Developer to Retired Developer in the last few days but he'd been inactive for weeks due to PC issues apparently. I think he's still technically leading the project at this stage but obviously can't do everything.

A lot of art assets were done/almost done and could be seen in the beta version. But a lot of coding, sound effect work and mapping is still required. The project might get adopted by one of the main DEVs once they have time/resources to focus on specific community factions, it would seem a waste otherwise.

I didn't want to get involved, but
Tonnie's:

and
BEEX's:

...look nothing alike, especially considering that you are both designing the same vehicle.

edited...the second picture is my bushamster model but with tonnies texture on it,the first picture is tonnies copy, note some elements of those textures are from aus forces, wheel texture from my aslav-25 or bushy and other bits.
.
heres a pic of my bushmaster (from bf2 aus forces, released over 2 years ago).
Image
.
fact...he only gave me credit once he got caught out.
the thing with this whole mess is if i did the same to project reality content i would be flamed and harrassed and im 100% sure the original creator of those objects would be freakin mad and go on a name and shame campaign.
.
just cuz we dont make money from mods doesnt mean we dont have any I.P rights.
.
we told several members of the PR aus faction they "CAN NOT" use our content in any way,due to them being competition...mods are just as competitive as any games on the retail market.
