In the Games Workshop Warhammer 40,000 universe, the populations of contested galaxies and systems know for a fact that there's only one thing on everyone's mind - war. It seems as though Relic knows this well, as they've announced a new bunch of content for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II.

Along with declarations of war on balancing, bugs, and exploits, which will all be addressed in the upcoming "There is Only War" update, those who wandered away from Dawn of War II to other games will be happy to know that eight new maps will be added to the game along with all the balancing and bug fixes that are coming.

In super good news for those frustrated to no end about the current balance, Relic will even be holding an Open Beta for the new balancing issues in a bid to try and satisfy the entire player base before needlessly nerfing or buffing particular units.

this patch better damn well be awesome because this is probably the last time the fanbase is going to tolerate buggy release.

god forbid the abysmal frame rate drop that came with patch 1.3.1 isn't even fixed yet.

This game died for me when they nerfed SM and left Nids with the same overpowered units in 1v1. The game has some serious balance issues in my opinion.

nerfed? i don't recall a specific nerf on SM, in fact i don't recall any since the beta day for SM.

global nerf we got plenty, but i never recall a specific one for SM.

This game died because there are so many better ones to be playing right now.

The balance, bugs and shitty coding makes it no fun to play, and why would anyone play something that wasn't fun?

I was going to post here asking if this game is worth me spending some dollars on but the above posts seem to have answered my questions.

I bought this game and have to say I'm quite happy with it. I haven't played online a lot, but have a bit and it's been fun. Hopefully this patch fixes a lot of the bugs because it's a very good game if you take away the problems (nerf arguments aside).

Also, 8 new maps FTW.

Is it anything like the original DoW? That was & is still awesome, something about it was just kick ass.

Yes and no. They have scaled it down a heap to be more like the Company of Heroes style. Instead of a huge army of units you'll have 4 or 5, depending on what army you play of course.

I believe there's a demo out that you could download and try before deciding if you like it enough.

Kendrite: it's essentially like a hybrid of DoW and CoH.

not quite like either, and it's a taste to be acquired though personally it feels more like a lesser CoH than anything else.
