Left 4 Dead: Three Update Weekend

Over the weekend, zombie-huntin' gamers checking out the new Left 4 Dead demo were buffeted by a sea of changes, leading up to the unveiling of the full game, later this week. No less than three updates were released for the game, via Valve's Steam distribution service. The most recent of these landed early this morning, and adds the ability to tie game servers to specific Steam Community groups, as well as fixing a small assortment of bugs.

To grab that one, as well as the other two released over the weekend, it's a simple matter of restarting your Steam client - and if you don't have the demo yet, it's available free through the store.

any one get the bug where at the start of the 2nd level its an absolute lag fest ><

Yeah, I get that bug too.

From looking around, putting in mat_queue_mode 0 might fix that though, will have to give it a shot.

Both bugs are still not fixed... pretty bad!

The "retrying connection to server" bug on the 2nd level is damn annoying, but it doesnt happen on dedicated servers. They fixed the dedicated servers so this happens rarely now but is still annoying when it does happen.

The damn multi-core bug with freezing/stuttering game + sound looping has been around since the start and they are still working on it, very annoying!

Would have thought they could get it fixed by the release date, maybe not... its their first multi-core game on the Source engine.

After Updating to ANOTHER patch this morning, the lag has gotten even worse. At each loading point (start of the safe zone next level), it keeps going on about retrying to connect and does that for a good minute or so, then the lag stops...

^ that was previous to this patch. I've had that BS the last couple of days. Always happens at the half way safe house. I have to disconnect and reconnect to fix it, and even that doesn't work all the time :evil:

All our servers are associated with our steam community group which you can join here:

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Gamesonnet

To access our servers in game go to "Play Campaign" then "Play on Steam Group Server".

From there you can either create a lobby (It will use one of our servers) or just join one of the servers in the list. (Select a server and click "Join game")

Note: You must be a member of our steam group for the above to work!

and im capped with only 30% of preload done.. no l4d for me.. seems stupid steam watch wasnt working properly ><

You're don't just run steamwatch and assume that you'll always connect to an Aus content server, you have to the connections as well..
