Are we surprised that a game is released which is buggy? I don't think so. Even if the game is Shivering Isles the official expansion to Oblivion. While it is surprising that a game ending bug could get through the testing process when you see some of the conditions associated with the bug you begin to understand. Bethesda are promising that the patch to fix the "formID" bug will be available for download on Xbox live on Monday in the US (so Tuesday for all us folk who are ahead of everyone else).

Still... how dodge is that.

It didn't take them long, they had a beta patch out very very quickly - it's just taken them a while to get to an official stage.

The Form ID bug performs many more tricks other than just making objects vanish (which is rather significant by itself).

Beth did release the beta's quite quickly but this didn't help those who had saved games that 'rolled over' (resetting characters to level one !).

As with any epic RPG, having a number of saves is the answer (and backing them up).

I am anxiously waiting on this patch as Shivering Isles is top stuff. I would have to agree that Beth's response has been quick, as it should be, as the introduced bug(s) are show stopping spectacular.

I ran into the bug very quickly after starting Shivering Isles with a new character.

This whole episode must have been very frustrating for Xbox players.
