So whats the multiplayer like in this game? i see its co-op but does it have any player vs player modes?

I've only been using the BOSCO sniper rifle though, and nothing else because the weapons are quite expensive, and there seems to be so few of them;

You start with a heap of weapons for free which you can pick when you go to different pages in the armory. Should be starting with some melee, some pistols, some sub-machineguns, shotguns, assault rifles and snipers at least.

I've barely touched the RPG and skills aspects because I don't know what they are. In trying to create a unique system they've made it difficult for me to understand what's going on because of the names of things.

If you go into the character stats tab where you can spend stat points, it will give you descriptions for what every stat point will help with. Tells you what abilities are effected by upgrading it too.

The only thing I've been unable to work out so far though is why I can't put a 4th item on research. I've got the cash, researched the initial 3 items already, but every time I click 'launch search' on anything else nothing happens.
