Top Spin 4 Due in March

Unread postby News Portal » 19 Jan 11, 11:29 am

If you, like most other Aussies (and particularly those well-dressed Melbourners), have been gripped by the gladiatorial charm of tennis as the Australian Open rockets into full swing, you’ll possibly be more than pleased to read that [app=7572]Top Spin 4[/app] is due for a mid-March release. 2K Sports’ latest iteration in the franchise is evidently looking to get a bit more technical at the net rather than bash away from the baseline, because the licenses this thing is toting are off the chain.

Think you mean James Blake. Has anyone actually played these? I'm a big tennis fan and player but I can't imagine a decent tennis game.

Top Spin 3 was great. They're very sim-like games and are a real challenge.

I hope the fix power-shots as the parameters were exceedingly difficult to pull off. Online was annoying in the same way Tiger Woods golf and skate. 1 and 2 are... filled with people who know how to string together impossible moves with 100% consistency.

My tip: buy top spin 3, have a lash then return it and put that money down on a preorder for 4 :)

hehe always had a blast with my mates on topspin 1 and 2. Haven't played the 3rd iteration however.

Basically this game is fun as long as you got mates to play it with - the single player campaign get quite boring quite fast.

Do like how they are planning to re-do the volleys I always thought they were the Achilles heel of the game.

EDIT: Who is James Black? lol

I've heard good things about Top Spin 3. Might give 4 a try if it gets the same reception. Been a fan of Virtua Tennis for a while now but they botched up VT2009 (made me glad I kept with VT3). Hopefully the sim element of Top Spin won't be too hard to learn.

I play alot of tennis IRL, and I really like the Top Spin games, much better than VT for an actual tennis game.

But volleys, lobs, drops are really quite hard to pull off. And power shots are pretty much impossible to pull off, and really not worth it. Unfortunately, for most people they will just do topspin or flat shots from one court side to the other until the 'player' can't run anymore.

People also cheese the stats. Like, putting no points into Service and just using power shot and learning the timing, and you get the most powerful serve anyway.

Unfortunately I never had anyone to play locally, and online is full of ... online people (you know what I mean!). So they eventually just stop getting played, even though they are great games!

I played the whole campaign of the latest vt tennis and its great. I played through the whole amatuer circuit and then made the pro curcuit. The matches are short but otherwise I had great fun.

Single player modes in topspin do get quite boring fast,
It's just a good game to have a few drinks with mates and have a good bash around and play for money.
A bit like Fifa, Once you have mastered it, It's just boring.

LOL @ Andre Gassi??

Was this even made by someone who even knows anything about tennis?

1. Out of every single person I know from cricket, to just social, About 7 out of around 50-or so was interested in the Tennis, And about 3 was complete tennis nuts that almost burst waiting for it, I highly doubt "Most aussies" was looking forward too it!

2. You got some of the names wrong, Probably just a spelling mistake though...

3. It's been due in march for like 2 months + now, It's been on my "Keep an eye out list" for heaps long and has always had march next too it for the release date, So that's a little late of a topic, Or did you just wait for the tennis here to start?

The last bit of the article is (fortunately) false. Top Spin 4 will get Move support but not Kinect. Thank goodness there's going to be a better alternative to Racket Sports!

I can't wait for Top Spin 4!

Probably a stupid question- but is there any virtua tennis / top spin 1-3 available on PC?

I'd love to buy it if it has been released!
