DICE have announced that the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield 1943 are due to launch via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Network next week. Pricing for the game is 1200 Microsoft Points on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, and US$15 on the PlayStation network.

The game is due for release on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the 8th of July, and those on the PlayStation 3 will see the game hit during the next weekly update, the 9th of July.

Very interested to see the PC version. I hope that it lives up to BF1942's awesomeness, but doubt that it will. Until then one can only see what the console kiddies think of it...

It's coming out on console well before the PC version? What a bizarre decision.

Apparently they want to fully port the game to PC properly before release.

Or they will make a lot more money on Consoles first before switching to PC.

Not really coz they are doing that community challenge to achieve 43 million kills between xbox 360 & PS3 to unlock the forth map Coral Sea. Which probably means that it will just be a normal map with no need to unlock for the PC version.

They have stated that they will do more with the PC version. What that means is up to speculation really. Hopefully a lot more maps, some European ones would be nice.

Isn't this normally the case? Console games need to be properly ported, unlike GTA4, which Rockstar pushed be released before Christmas for the $$$. I hope they do a good job of it. I loved Battlefield 1942, so I'll probably buy it for my 360, and get it on PC when it finally ported. FPS games pwn on PC.

I'm hoping that they take the time to de-console it for PC properly. Much more likely they will release some jumped up console trash shooter for us to avoid buying.

Console FPS, espcially those multiplatform, don't have a great history. Each platform has it's own intrinsic strengths and weaknesses. That said this title will be at a reasonable price and no doubt plenty of eager players, at least for the first few months. I still don't know why keyboard and mouse isn't a controll option for all console fps. I don't buy that those with a mouse have a unfair advantage over those with a dual shock 3 or a
xbox thumbasher. Surely those with 1,200 hours logged with the game versus 10 are much more unfairly matched? Anyway, this like the recent Punisher PSN title is most welcome. This generation has $110 releases and $15 ones that are of comparable quality. A good game is a good game regardless of price.
