Dungeon Keeper to be revived - in MMO format for Asian marke

Electronic Arts control a large amount of intellectual property when it comes to iconic gaming history. One such tidbit is the Dungeon Keeper license, which was spawned in 1997 by Peter Molyneux and the now defunct Bullfrog Productions.

As an RTS, Dungeon Keeper spawned a legion of loyal fans with its unique gameplay and shift from ubiquitous heroism to evil. Today, a Chinese company by the name of NetDragon has announced that they've licensed the Dungeon Keeper IP from EA, with intentions to produce a MMO entitled Dungeon Keeper Online based on the franchise.

It is a shame, the world of Sims and Strats needs it's Dungeon Keeper and Evil Genius games.

Could be fun though, depending on how far they go hehe ..

I had sooooo much fun playing Dungeon Keeper 1 with direct connect 56k modem with a mate on friday nights after school

Dungeon Keeper was awesome. And yes, turning it into an MMO is going to fail something hardcore.

Bizzarely enough i just installed Dungeon Keeper 2 again seriously like 3 or 4 days ago - and it STILL freaking rocks - would love a proper sequel - none of this mmoified bullshit.

I can see why they'd want to make it an MMO.

Big world, instanced dungeons that players create. Modular content (new units/rooms/spells etc). An MMO devs dream. It's just sitting there on a plate. Everyone has the same units etc so no balance issues.

Play overlord - its not that far off what dungeon keeper three was meant to be .. which was Dungeon keeper bought to the surface.
