It has been quite some time since Alan Wake was first announced, way back in 2005. Developed by Remedy, the guys behind Max Payne, their latest title has been quite some time in the making, with little information floating about regarding the state of development.

This has changed today, with the release of a new cinematic trailer which has just been released. We've got it on the mirror (in 1080p!) and ready for download. We've also dug up a fact sheet which should prove a refresher to those who'd forgotten about this game, or those who've never heard of it at all.

Black Board Says "HURRY THE fsck UP" They've been working on this for soo long.

this game could be epic assuming it has good gameplay. All I've seen so far is walking around poking flashlights in people windows and the occasional exploding barrel, that's about it.

Graphics are on par with Farcry 2.. amazing.

It seems that most games are forgetting to get some decent facial animations. Seeing a beautifully textured face is good, but then when you see them speak it just breaks the whole game. Crysis has the best looking faces of any game I have seen but its just terrible when they speak. Not believable at all.

On the other hand there is the Source engine. The faces are not the most detailed but they actually a facial animation system, a kick ass one at that. When you see the character speak they are able to convey emotions to you through their expression. Something static textures can not do.

I have friends raving about this game and how the graphics are going to be best ever...But from what I have seen the graphics are alright (nothing great) and the game itself doesn't look very interesting at all.

Mass Effect is a great example on how to do facial animations.

Still Vista exclusive? If it is, I still ain't interested.

does that mean it's DX10 exclusive? I hope so, DX10 from what I hear is far superior to DX9 the problem is that all games so far (including Crysis) are DX9 engines with DX10 tacked on so of course it wouldn't perform well

Dx10 isn't superior, it just looks SLIGHTLY prettier. The performance is identical to DX9 (took a while to get there though).

Meanwhile DX11 is coming in a years time so to this.

Boohoo. This game looks amazing I will definatly be buying it & yes it will only be a windows vista exclusive. Theres a few cool tech demos of this game on youtube. Great physics engine on par with Crysis.

but have you seen games designed with only DX10 in mind? that's my point, what i'm saying is that i've heard that if a game was made solely for DX10 it'd be much better than a DX9 or a DX10 coated over DX9 game

But not if they are chained to an OS not everyone wants to just rush out an buy. That's why DX9 is still used as the Main API.

Don't expect anyone to jump on DX11 either. Blame that on Microsoft being pushy bastards. We'd use DX10 and DX11 if it'd work on an OS that isn't restrictive as fsck. This is what OpenGL3 should have done.

But in the end who gives a poop.. If the game is boring as fsck why bother with shiny graphics? So far Alan Wake looks boring.

I love DX10, and I'll be instantly jumping to 11 when it's out too.

This game is going to be absolutely amazing. Bring on Vista only, It's time for people to upgrade.

I thought EXACTLY the same as everybody else on XP that Vista was just a buggy, rip off which sucks....

I've NOT ONCE had a problem with vista with my games / older games / Emulation / NOTHING, it just gives you better things and improves stuff.

Let alone, this game's going to be pretty CPU + Ram Dependent, Which is the main reason why it's going only to be on VISTA, because it can see more than the 3.2 or what ever GB XP see's.
