The quest to destroy the One Ring continues. Adventurers that dare enter the Mines of Moria, the first expansion to Lord of the Rings Online, will face a paramount journey into a world beneath Middle-Earth. Turbine Entertainment has announced an official release on November 18th across North America, Europe and Australia. The expansion will introduce the second chapter or more familiar volume based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic series.

General features include hundreds of new quests to help aid players through the raised level cap which is sixty. Reaching the top isn't fun without the new traits, virtues, skills, and class quests that will entice and encourage progression. Players looking for a new class to play can try out The Rune Keeper and The Warden. One is based on warrior elements and the other on caster.

Worth noting that existing users can upgrade their LOTRO account for US$29.99 and get the expansion via direct download (when it is released). The offer is available on the accounts and maintenance page at the Turbine site (and there is an early upgrade bonus - in-game items/title).

It's probably the best option for existing players unless you have your heart set on the cloth map and other goodies in the Collector's Edition.


That might be because we aren't covered by Codemasters ? They do Europe - we play on the US servers, thus go through the US distributors. Midway used to cover the US release but I believe Warner Bros are now distributing the product.

I recently gave LotRO a shot after i got sick of AoC, its a really good game but i got bored of it after i hit lvl 37 or something, im probably just burnt out with mmo's at the moment. I might buy this expansion though it should add alot more new players and give me a better chance to start off with one of the new classes.

Does this game still have a 14 day trial or anything like that?

That's not that cheap now that the AU dollar is screwed, US$29 is AU$45 at the moment, thats only 5 bucks cheaper than retail If i decide to get this i'll have to get retail anyway, Turbine wont accept my pre-paid Visa for some reason. Not sure what else is different between the retail and digital but you still get the $9.99 fee with the retail pre-order.

And Atahu i dont think they have the 14-day trial up online anymore the trial page is giving me a 404.

They have an RRP set for Australia ? None of the main stores (EB, GAME, JB Hifi) have it listed yet, to my knowledge.

According to the Atari Australia website, RRP for Australia is $49.95 and $59.95 ($49.95 is also reflected on the most recent preview boxes on the shelves at EB Games).

The two prices being for the expansion only and complete edition respectively.

How much stock to put in this I'm not really sure I but have emailed Atari marketing for clarification as this does not reflect the current press releases from Turbine last week regarding the Australian release which is meant to be the Complete Edition and Collectors Edition.

Basically I forsee Atari botching the launch again just as it did for the Shadows of Angmar launch and the release at retail here having to be delayed.
