StarCraft 2 confirmed as a trilogy

Wow. It was looking a bit like BlizzCon wasn't really going to pull out anything amazingly exciting, but we've just been blown away.

StarCraft II has just been confirmed - it's not a single game any more. They just had toooo much content, so rather than compromise on quantity or quality, they've expanded the title into a trilogy, with one game looking at each race.

They had three stories in the original Starcraft.
If they sell the games seperatly its just money grabbing

You'd prefer less content in one game, rather than three full games worth?

Seems reminiscent of Warcraft 3 and Frozen Throne, both single player campaigns were the length of a regular game, high quality and from memory frozen throne was cheaper anyway.

It all comes down to pricing and how much extra content gamers are getting.

If each part of the trilogy is a full game and priced as such, I wonder how many gamers are prepared to pay full price for 3 titles to get the complete SC2 experience? Example: $80 x 3 = $240

Either that or each part of the trilogy becomes an episode and sold at a cheaper price. Therefore if you were to buy all three, the total would be the cost of one full game. Example: $30 x 3 = $90

exactly, Blizzard has learnt from WOW that they can make a fortune off of people, this seems like a clear case of money grabbing to me, doesn't affect me though as I had no intention of getting it anyway, but we all know this will make Activision happy :lol:

They're in a business to make money so why should they not at least try to make some?

Depends what is defined as a full game - not all games are created equal, some have a lot more content than others.

It is easy to imagine 3 short games that could have been combined into one huge game. Not to say that's what Blizzard has done, but gamers are becoming more cynical these days (often with just cause).

if you didn't realize most gamers aren't businesses, they're humans, and they want what's fair, Blizzard wanna make money? make a good game like they usually do, not split up a game into 3 to artificially triple their sales, if they end up costing a third of a full game i'm fine with that but if they charge full price for each 'episode' then that's wrong

can someone explain to me the first picture? it clearly isn't CGI, it's just not up to the quality standards of Blizzard CGI but it's obviously way better than in game

what i meant was they're a business, that's trying to make money, hence they will do their best to make that happen.

no we don't need to "conform to their will" and no i wasn't saying that we should "sympathise with their plots".

by all means kick up a stink at them ripping you off or whatever...you've yet to even see a taste of what they have to offer in the way of a trilogy and your already writing it off...
