It seems as though Bioware have been awfully busy as of late, with the announcement yesterday of Mass Effect to be released on PC. Barely giving time for gamers to get their heads around that, it seems that a tiny bit of information we had received not too long ago has developed further. This, information; directly relating to activities in a galaxy far, far away has now had some confirmation through an EA Analyst Report, and a list of planned titles.

We previously brought you information on the announcement of an old partnership between Bioware and LucasArts, but a new Knights of the Old Republic game was not officially announced at that time. It appears that something is happening now.

You sure ? I had assumed that given the extended development time (5 years) behind the Witcher they had migrated from Aurora to Electron over the course of the project, but everything I read around the place seems to indicate it is just a just highly modified Aurora engine (ie. NWN1).

I don't think anything other than NWN2 has used the Electron engine yet (which isn't the most optimised piece of code out there).

Yes, The Witcher uses the Aurora engine, not the Electron engine.

The splash screen at the opening of The Witcher states that it uses the Aurora 2007 engine, a heavily modified and updated version of the original NWN engine.

In relation to the article it is interesting to note that the slide used in the EA presentation did list KOTOR and the "unnamed MMORPG" being developed by Bioware seperately, possibly hinting that the initial hope that this unnamed MMORPG would be a KOTOR RPG is false but we wont know untill confirmed announcments are made in the future.

For starters this was NOT confirmed that it would be KOTOR3 (for all we know it could be just a repackaged KOTOR1 or 2.. Bioware hasn't said anything) I wouldn't jump to conclusions that quickly.

Secondly its just a rumor with no real evidence. I think you should establish that fact in the article since Gamespot at least bothered to.

I would like it to be.. But I'm still skeptic about the whole matter until we see a press release.

I wish its a semi-sequel (in the sense that it is not created as if it is a sequel) because many sequel games are really bad (so are sequel movies). I certainly wish for more character customization. Other than that would be a more obvious feel of belonging in either jedi or sith, eg: there would be actually proper academies(at least in the beginning of the game) and then there would be a ranking up system as you do more missions and the plot can thicken abit later than having it comes in too early in the game.

And oh, it would be cool if they actually make hoods for the jedi robes! And let's hope its not going to be a 'kotor online'!

Gotta agree with you Cyberpunk.
While it would be nice to think that KOTOR 3 is in production, having a closer look at the slide it does list both games that have already been produced along with those that are in production.
Remember this presentation was to share holders, not members of the gaming industry. The purpose of the presentation was to give EA's financial position for the coming year, not announce plans for the future.

Could potentially all be smoke and mirrors here.

A side note, the LOTR game listed there under Pandemic is rumoured to be a Battlefield style FPS

They can make game about anything these days. Let's make an action adventure game about commuters wrestling for public transport!
