How to Almost lose a Nyx...

How to Almost lose a Nyx (and leave a brown stain in the panties)...

I dropped my Nyx as part of an NCdot/PL/Merciless fleet onto a Northern Coalition pair of titans that had got themselves into trouble...

http://www.northern-coalition.co.uk/?a=kill_related&kll_id=56390

Just after we dropped dwarfish, I had a disconnect...

I've got a fairly decent router (Billion 7300) and a very decent ISP that caters to gamers (internode obviously). I tried to reconnect the router by using the admin web interface to no avail... So I snuck quietly into the kid's room and power cycled the router... Still wouldn't come up so I power recycled a 2nd time...

Just as the PC reconnected to the net, I then had a BSOD (very rare for my PC - running Windows7 64bit). Eventually I came up in comms, was told that support was still on the pos and to login...

And I logged in... Into several enemy bubbles (3 HICs, 4-5 dics).... At this stage my underpants are a little moist, and my hands are starting to gently shake...

Shields are completely gone... 86% armour... Plenty of cap left (enough to jump easily)... I started neuting out one HIC (was neuting me back, so I assumed (correcly) that he wouldn't be all that cap stable --- http://merciless-alliance.com/killboard/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=18601 )

Hardeners on, Smartbombs on... I got the fighters out on another HIC... Started aligning for a celestial... Joined fleet, logged on exit cyno... NCdot support finally warped to me and started clearing 30+ support off me... Smartbomb popped the last warp disruption probe and I jumped...

Lesson's learned... Even doing everything right, **** sometimes happens...

I'm looking for recommendations for a new router too...

Good read there drakey. Glad you got that big fat asset out =P

As much as i enjoyed my time in the NC I decided on two things. 1 - NC CTA's are a no no for me, i dont like having my weapons cycle once per 10mins. 2 - There really isnt a huge amount of decent PvP'ers in the NC, but those good ones are good. Theres just not enough of them.

He's talking about NCdot though, not NC. NCdot are former Triumvirate I believe, and are completely seperate from (and red to) the northern coalition
Are you a sardine?

He was part of a NCdot fleet yes, but he helped hotdrop a couple NC titans. Thus my NC comment.

Heh, that was an avoidable titan loss for Dwarfish, he was there offering support but rubbish POS password allowed reds in to bump him out. And failplan meant escape cyno pilot was out of range *facepalm*

Oh well, spaceships are made to explode, there are more where that came from, and cyno out of range is the kind of mistake that only happens once :)

No idea what the average lifespan of a titan is but that one lasted almost six months and created quite a few killmails :D pewpew for the lolz!
