This is the best thing i can tell you. In the first day or so of you trial you will decide you love eve or absolutely despise it. It has a very high learning curve in comparison to your typical MMO such as WoW.
see pic belowIf you do decide you like it, don't get discouraged by the amount of time it takes to train up to a certain skill. Almost every player corp/alliance will accept younger players. There are also alliances such as Eve Uni that bring new players up to speed. Eve Uni Website -
http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Main_PageAs for play time it is a game you can play for an hour a day, but you will be limited in somethings you can do within that hour. For example a level 1 or 2 mission in high sec might take 10mins tops whereas a wormhole site might take the whole hour. There are things that you can get into that will generate a decent amount of isk (in game currency) without much effort. Things like playing the market or Planetary interaction. My current PI set up I only touch every 12hours and i can set that up for longer if needed.
Hope that answers a few questions. I know the Eve guys here and myself are happy to give advice on the game.
Edit: Added the venerable learning curve pic
