So they cannot take any material from Macross Plus, Macross 7, Macross DYRL, Macross 2 (which we pretend never existed), Macross Zero, Macross Frontier (most recent one), or anything else including the games.

so Harmony Gold made their own materials afterwards hence why the drastic change on style with the Robotech materials after the original run that was made of the japanese anime footage.

That one paragraph has made more sense to me then it all lol I've seen alot of stills of new veritechs, heard of new stories, but never knew where to find them all after watching what i thought was the complete saga...i'm now on a mission to catch....uhh find them all!

i'd suggest Macross DYRL, Macross Plus, and Macross Zero roughly in that order... because they are all short OVA or a movie.

So you can consume them all in short order.

Macross DYRL (Do You Remember Love) is more or less just a retelling of the 1st series, or rather to use the term of their explanation... imagine if they made a movie about the 1st series for the people in the Macross verse itself, and Macross DYRL is what you get out of it.

Macross Plus is the fan favorite (mainly because it is where YF-19 Excalibur which is the Macross fan favorite design came from) and while it's quite old by now it's animation back during it's age was impressive. Timeline wise it's after the 1st series, but before every other Macross series except Macross Zero.

Macross Zero was one of the first Macross show that is done very heavily in CGI (so it looks really good not to mention it was an OVA so the quality is miles ahead of the long series animation quality), but the show itself is actually prequel to the 1st Macross so it's actually the 1st one timeline wise. Also the 1st appearance for VF-0 Phoenix.

Oh, incidentally don't call them veritech when asking about it in Macross forum (the name veritech only existed in robotech and some of the hardcore fans of Macross get incensed when they hear the term applied to Macross only valks which are pretty much EVERYTHING except the valks from 1st series)

another set of series that works off each other that was a fun watch was To
Aru Majutsu No Index (a certain magical index?) S1 and 2 along side To Aru Kagaku No Railgun (Raildex...) fun watch...

The World God Only Knows and fate/zero are my currents...

i was more a gundam fan than a macross fan...

I like both, (i watch pretty much any real robots series, heck i love VOTOMS) but in gundam case i only like the short OVAs and some exceptional series like 8th MS team.

the rest of the series in gundam i pretty much watch for no other reason than for the MS designs.

Having to endure Camile, and then Banagher type of main character in many of the other Gundam series seriously test and strain my sanity.
