Well they certainly cannot complain about the lack of source material to draw from with Dredd, heck they could have had it like the same format that Sin City did for multiple stories in the one movie. I thought that worked rather well.

Looks better than i expected it would/10

I liked the cell shading/whatever but i think it's funny as hell that they just happen to have the chick lose her helmet or whatever.

I'm hoping for good things as I'm a huge Dredd fan. I think that the a contained story such as this is a good way to introduce the world to a broad audience. The Dark Judges are great but I think it would be too confusing to put them in the first film.

Agree with the thought's on the helmet. It seems a little off. Funny how much the small details matter. I'm also not a fan of the small eagle and the generic lawmaster look.

I'd love to hear that they are thinking of future films. I believe the America/Beeny) plot line would seem to be another good choice for main stream success.

Judge Anderson never wore a helmet. Presumably something to do with being a Psi, but not sure if it is ever explained in the comics.

Yeah, the lawmaster looks ****, IMO. Thing about the comics is that everything is larger than life, bit hard to reproduce in a live action flick without looking naff. Still... should be more of a hog.

John Wagner, the Dredd creator, has said that the new movie does it justice. Meanwhile he pretty much ignores the fact that the Stallone movie was made. the Stallone one made everything LOOK right, but then they buggered the story majorly. This time they seem to be going with making the story right and then bringing in aesthetics after.

I've pumped for this, can't wait! Been reading 2000AD for about 20 years! (Hence the username!)

Oh, and yes, even as a cadet Anderson never wore a helmet. I don't recall EVER seeing a PSi Judge in a helmet either.

Well after reading a review which gave it 3 out of 5 stars, I thought it can't be too bad and went to see it tonight.

It wasn't bad, but wasn't mind-blowing either. There was minimal plot/story but lots of violence, blood and gore. One thing I was pleased (and wrong about) was that they kept the slow-mo shots to a minimum and used it sparingly at appropriate moments. It definitely is more gritty than the Stallone version with none of the lame humour, but I admit I probably liked the production design of the Stallone version more. The one gripe I had was that the soundtrack was waaaay to loud and thumping...I could barely hear what people were saying, though it could've been the cinema's fault.

If you've read it for that many years then you should remember they explained about 18 years ago why the PSi judges don't wear them

They actually provided a reason in the movie as well.

Well, I really liked it. While some of it looked painfully low budget, its because it WAS low budget, they made the movie on a shoestring. Did well though.
