Dat cliffhanger.

Hidden: show
I'm guessing in the books the House of the Undying segment was much much longer? Wondering about the significance of her seeing Drogo and then leaving him..

How were the Iron Islanders able to burn winterfell? I mean, if they wanted to take up Robb's offer of not being killed on their way out, you'd think not burning his **** would spoil that deal a little?

How long until next season? :(

I have a bad feeling we have to wait another 12 months

But expect Game of Thrones season 3 to premiere in April 2013

Your question
Hidden: show
From what I can vaguely remember, In the book she's met by Pryat Pree and he tells her to always take the right door, and that she'd encounter many horrible things in the other doors and what not, then she comes to a point where she sees Drogo but she ignores him because he isn't in the correct door, then, my memory is hazy here, she can only go a particular way and ends up out smartening Pryat and then he gets subdued outside by one of her guards. But yeah, it's much longer and I don't remember him dying.

Someone who remembers might want to clear it up for Bek

What a conclusion! Finally some whitewalkers!

Man they really effed up the scale in the series. Was that Winterfell in the background when they were leaving? From the shots inside it always looked like a tiny little place amongst a forest (even the intro sequence made it look small). :S

Bit sad that Tyrion's story is going to go downhill from here, the author likes kicking people while they're down. Wonder if he's going to keep the scar or if it's gonna heal so that they don't have to do makeup.

Sad about Winterfell, I assume they'll explain what happens with the next season but it is random how all of a sudden it's burnt to the ground (I know what happened but it was weird to see it was all of a sudden burnt with no explanation).

Overall even though not as much happened I think this season was an improvement over the first one. Everything was generally focused (no random pointless storylines with the crazy sister of Ms Stark for example) and generally entertaining. Though part of it is probably because I now know what type of show this is and i'm not p!ssed at someone I like dieing anymore or what not because it's expected now.

Though I think the Winterfell and Bran storyline was so-so. Kinda feels like Winterfell served its purpose as the sagas starting point and the author tried to give it a purpose going forward ultimately giving up and just removing it from the picture.

Welp, now to wait 12months for SoS Part 1 and then another 12 months for SoS Part2 RAGE!!!!!!

Curious, do you think they'll be recombining Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons since they were separated?

Well now, looks like it's time to start reading the first book. :P

@jnr clarifying for bek, book.
Hidden: show
She follows pryat prees instructions. Ends up in an audience with the undying and, here is where my mind is fuzzy as to the reasons, Drogon sets the Undying on fire and burns the whole place to the ground.

exe3, books
Hidden: show
IMO Tyrion's story gets more epic from here on out ;).
Winterfell stages a much bigger role in the books, they skipped out a storyline. Hence the burning not making much sense.
TBH Bran's storyline has felt so-so for me the entire 5 books.
I believe they have said that they are keeping it split(i.e 2 seasons), but picking and choosing parts from each book to suit the episodic format.

In answer to Exe3 (Psuedo-Book Spoilers)
Hidden: show
A lot of what you have said is or has been building to the later books, so there are parts which seem odd to do/unfinished, but it will all make sense as the series' continue.

Examples of the above - Don't click if you haven't clicked above/don't want examples. Book Spoilers
Hidden: show
Examples are Lysa (Catelyn's sister) plays more of a role in Book ~4/5. Bran's story is building to something very large in the book, but it still has a lot to go, and 2 new characters to be introduced. Tyrion's story goes a fair bit further down the crapper but it is still great to see what happens.

In response to Jnr (Book/TV Spoilers)
Hidden: show
I don't think it was Pyat Pree who told her to keep taking a specific door, but it was definitely someone (possibly Qaithe - Chick in the wooden mask who spoke to Jorah a few episodes ago). AFAIK they didn't kill Pyat Pree, but she did kill all of the Elder warlocks, and the Pree did his nut at her afterwards outside, and they may have killed him then? It sucks that they didn't go into the whole Rheagar side of the story which she was in there, but I guess that would mean introducing another character which hasn't really been mentioned.

In response to Bek's second question (Major Book spoiler even though I'm trying to be vague ;))
Hidden: show
Who said it was the Iron Born?

Now I do have to say, I do like how they have gone about tying up the series. Can't wait for next April.

Ahhh so the men Robb sent (led by the son of one of his generals or something) burned the joint and probably killed the Iron islanders so they'd take the blame? Actually don't answer that I'll probably just wait :P

Will be interesting to read the books after the TV series with all the differences.

Another question.

Hidden: show
Why did the Wildlings free Snow when he killed the other guy? Surely you'd have to do more than kill someone via self defense(ish) to gain their trust. Or was it a case that they believe there is no turning back for Snow now that he has betrayed his oath by killing a fellow Nightwatcher?

Response to Exe's question, Relates to the book, but stuff that has been shown in the show, just the books take on it. Essentially if you don't want to know what happened in the book, well essentially your last question is correct.
Hidden: show
Yeah, in the books what actually happens is that John lets Ygritte go, and then Halfhand and the group go off with John (thinking he killed her).

She obviously goes off and warns the other wildlings that they are around, the nights watch guys get slowly picked off until John and Halfhand are hiding in a cave. Halfhand tells John to kill him because Rattleshirt (guy in the bone armor) will never believe that Halfhand has turned traitor.

They get captured, John convinces Rattleshirt that he wants to turn over the the wildlings, Ygritte helps his cause, and Rattleshirt makes John and Halfhand fight. Halfhand puts up quite a fight to make the show complete, but lets John kill him. Rattleshirt is still unconvinced, but Ygritte makes him take John to Mance (the King beyond the wall).

Regarding the warlocks/house of dust:

Hidden: show
Basically to see the council of warlocks they made her drink nightshade, she's left in a room with 4 doors (including the one she entered) and told to always take the door to the right and follow stairs that go up, from memory they show her pieces from her history including her husband and son and then Gregor Clegane murdering her brothers and sisters/cousins, they also show her some stuff about Robb that hasn't happened yet so i won't spoil it.

Pretty much they try and tempt her to stay and die in the tower, when she reaches the council they try some bs and Drogon burns them (they're all dried up remember) and then without the councils magic the whole place falls to pieces, she just gets out and Qarth is left a shithole.

I'm assuming that the council was omitted in favour of just having many aspects of Pyat Pree.

I also was amazed at the scenic shot of Winterfell , for 2 seasons I've been **** that it looked like a shack and the godswood appeared to be outside the walls but then they suddenly have it looking like it was meant to, in fact in that shot it looked larger than Kings Landing as most people would know it from the show (even though it's dramatically bigger than Winterfell is).

Regarding Bek's question (tv spoilers, putting bits together people might have missed):

Hidden: show
You answered it yourself, I'm not sure how to say any more without possibly spoiling next season (a pile was changed) so i'll just say this: think about who was sent to liberate the keep and who might have cause to burn it, the clues are there but you'd have to remember a relatively minor character's lines during 2 seasons to understand it.

I like the way they've cut the weaker side stories and edited down the central stories. It's some really masterful writing.

Soooo looking forward to next season. This thread will explode

Here's hoping that with how well this season has done on the ratings front, they increase the budget (and maybe push it to 12 episodes :D) that would be amazing!!!
