Episode was amazing. Yeah, it could have been done on a much larger scale. But I guess the budget for 1 episode is probably not that huge. It was still easily the best episode I've seen of GoT so far. Easily.

Budget would be massive; the costumes and on location shooting alone. Just allocating it to that instead of a lot of VFX.

Battle was impressive tbh, gear was legitimate and convincing and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well they signed for 2 seasons VERY early and I assumed they would be reusing most of the sets, unfortunately a lot of the sets are actual places rather than built set pieces so they can't just do whatever they want to them. IMO they need to start filming these shows in China and just constructing one big **** set in the middle of nowhere using cheap as hell labor.

still mentioning some book spoilers below

I'm thinking they may be doing a sort of side by side thing with episode 9 and 10. I think next episode will show everyone not in kings landing. Particularly Daenerys and hopefully Arya saying goodbye to H'gar. But yeah I too hope to see Barristan this season, unless they decided to leave that till season 3 to reduce confusion :(

Spawneh according to the episode guide on wikipedia you're pretty much spot on.

edit: i have to be honest, i really didn't notice that Gregor Clegane was played by a different actor in season 2, he always just has his helmet on.

True that, didn't even know there was a change of actors until I read this!

But yea, got to say the last episode was awesome. I had to do a double-take during the bit where Tyrion gets slashed across the face though. It was the King's Guard knight, wasn't it?

Bet he wishes he'd had his helmet on in Spartacus, might not have lost his face. :-)

To those wondering about Tyrion. Book spoilers:
Hidden: show
Yes it was Kingsguard. It was Ser Mandon Moore. I don't believe it was ever confirmed who told him to do it, but the most likely suspect is Cersei as she believed Tyrion was trying to have Joffrey killed. A shame that didn't happen. Ser Mandon was meant to be drowned in the Blackwater by Pod, Tyrion's squire. The spear was a nice touch though.

Also @ Neko, I like your description of Ser Loras' tactics.

I was wondering if anyone would misconstrue that :58_40:

Also regarding Ser Mandon Moore:

Hidden: show
Wasn't it implied in the book that Cersei screwed him to get him to do it? Or am i thinking of something else?

Ah interesting! Thanks for that! I never got around to reading the books unfortunately. They're on my To Read list for the end of the year. :)
