This. The Slasher attack in the first episode, pinning down that kid, and nibbling on his leg. Bite through that thing, baby! You don't need to watch your goddamn weight.

You realise this was made by the same guy that did alot of the star trek?

While i love star trek, its all just basic drama on a space ship, nothing overly interesting. I dont see how you all think this will be different...

no. battlestar galactica is drama on a ship. star trek is a more classic sci-fi show.

Every problem the Enterprise faces in TNG can be resolved by the use of tachyons!

I never properly watched TNG, so I'm going through it now. first few episodes of the first season were ridiculously, horribly, bad. it got better fairly quickly, and by the third season I was looking forward to watching the next episode. some episodes are still a bit corny, but overall it's good. I don't think I could handle TOS.

the above is part of the reason why I laugh at people making up their minds after a few episodes of a tv show (in this case, terra nova). the basic premise has potential. if people were as quick to judge TNG, it wouldn't really have gotten a chance to get good. same with DS9, that had such a slow start, but got steadily better and better, until it reached awesome level.

the other thing I find weird is what people choose to complain about. story is original? welcome to modern media. story is technically impossible? welcome to sci fi/fantasy. some lines are lame? welcome to new writers and actors.

someone was complaining about how dinosaurs aren't killing people. I can think of a few reasons why they didn't. maybe they don't eat people, and they were just defending their territory. maybe they had just eaten and were leaving them for later. maybe something spooked them. maybe they only realised humans taste like **** after they killed them.

if you are willing to accept that a time portal put them back 85million **** years, please have the imagination to think of reasons why weird things happen. the viewer has to play their part in the experience.

Yeah, thats a good point. BSG is good drama on a ship. Star trek is bad, tv drama on a ship.

This is bad tv drama in the past with poorly animated dinosaurs.

that was not my point.

BSG is drama on a ship. star trek is sci fi, with a bit of drama in there to keep things interesting. think of it as a continuum. pure drama on one side, and pure sci fi on the other. pure drama exists, and is typically seen in books aimed at older women. pure sci fi doesn't really exist, as there needs to be drama to make it interesting. BSG leans more to the drama side, and star trek leans more to the sci fi side. terra nova leans more to the drama side compared to star trek. I would say something like doctor who would lean more to the sci fi side compared to star trek (although I haven't really ever watched it, that's just my impressions from snippets I've seen).

I guess you could also think of each being properties in their own right, and BSG has a higher drama rating compared to star trek, and star trek has a higher sci fi rating compared to BSG.

point is, terra nova is closer to BSG than star trek. how good they all turn out to be is a separate matter.

I don't know how much longer I can last with this, another episode that I was disappointed with. Not a single thing that made me think, "well at least that was pretty cool".

sonic guns are pretty cool.

a few more episodes like that and I will probably stop defending it. at that point whether I continue watching will depend on how bored I get. I still think it has potential to get better.

Another single serving episode that had no bearing on a larger plot. What's the point of having a 2 minute tease at the end of each ep if you're not going tell the story?

Having seen the previews for this weeks episode I wasn't really looking forward to it, which is probably good as I actually found it better then what I was thinking it would be albeit very predictable as well.

Hidden: show
I will give them the award though for most obvious lead in ever... Don't catch Zoe's cold Dad... Why isn't Jim forgetting things.. 30mins later, DING! I know!

Plus while I didn't really pay enough attention to which scientist caused the problem and wonder if it was the one we first see and if it was then he doesn't have to worry about getting alzheimer's any more.

What the show really needs is while they've done these first few shows, they really need to jump into some action and mystery at least for next 2 to 3 episodes so they can suck that audience in.

Also, I wouldn't mind a bit of humour and would just love someone to say "Yabba Dabba Do!" at some stage (maybe if they visit that quarry).

I think the problem is that the first episode didn't really establish any storyline that was interesting, the colonists have food, water and security and the "sixers" weren't enough of a mystery for me to be interested in their "wink wink, nudge nudge" bs. They need to have some kind of dilemma rather than just a series of random episodes where each has a different random story.
