Yeah I'd love to know how much I've spent on books in the last decade.. have a shed full of them that the mice are eating.

I hear the Black Company series is quite good.

I've just got a Kindle, so going a bit crazy at the moment >.<

Can anyone recommend something similar to The Void Trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton.

Not sure what form of Sci-Fi you'd classify it was but I loved reading it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_Saga is set in the same universe, I haven't read either but if the back of the book blurbs are anything to go by you might find it worth taking a look at Asimov's Foundation series, course I have nfi how the writing style matches up.

I'd say K J Anderson's Saga of Seven Suns is similar in writting style and scale to Peter F Hamiltion's Commonwealth Saga + void. Foundation series, while being good in it's own right isn't very similar to it.

I actually picked the first book up by chance a few weeks ago. I love the world but some of the writing seems a little.. I don't know, amateurish? Still entertaining though.

Yeah I'm not overly far, having just started Chapter 6 but I'm really enjoying his style so far and the world seems rather unique too which is a nice change of pace from your standard medieval fantasy world.

Update: Quite a way through The Way of Kings and I've got to say, this is the best Fantasy book I've read in quite some time, the characters are great, the world is magical, it's brilliant.

I'm kind of pissed now that I've realized the second book hasn't been released yet though.. damnit. Part of a ten book series, and only the first book is finished?! I refuse to get caught up in yet another George R R Martin esque waiting period :/ Will definitely start his Mistborn trilogy next though.

Yeah, I finished Way of Kings a little while ago and really enjoyed it! Loved the way the world and magic system are thought out, very elegant and compelling.

I sat up to 0230 this morning to finish it, something I haven't done in a long time. That book really grabbed me, I loved the characters, I loved the ending, I like where it is leading to.. now I have to wait for the next book :(

I'll order his Mistborn book to read at work this week.

The Iron Druid Chronicles (series) by Kevin Hearne. Same vein as The Dresden Files and not half bad either.
