Also there is no guarantee that your replacement will die again before the new XBOX is released. I have a launch model that hasn't ever RROD. you might spend the $100 and it will last long enough.
Another option is to find a local repairer who might do it cheaper than $100, but you'll be in the same boat of not knowing if it'll die again.
There is also the option of pre-owned. Its got a 1yr warranty (so you'll get at least a year out of it) and its the elite model, so its also RROD 'resistant' and has HDMI, and its only $189 - https://www.ebgames.com.au/xbox360-1400 ... B-Xbox-360
Personally I would pay for the pre-owned elite. For me it's too close to the new XBOX to shell out too much.
