Well today I went to play some Gears 3 and my 360 finally bricked itself (again). It's a launch model, so it's out of warranty. My options are to spend a day tearing my hair out and fix it myself (which I don't really want to do) or pay a hundred bucks and send it in. Considering that the next Xbox will come out in a year or two I'm not really sure that that is the best idea as it'll just RROD a third time and I'll have to pay again. I would toss the stupid thing and get a 360 Slim (as they apparently don't have the problem and the HDMI would be nice), but I don't have 400 dollars lying around to spend on whatever.
So my real question is if they will just repair my launch 360 and send it back, or if they'll replace it with a slim (I've heard a few people say they sent in old 360s and had them replaced with shiny new ones). I really don't want to pay 100 dollars just for it to cark it again, and I don't want to throw it away as I just got Gears 3 last week and I really want to play it
I don't know if anybody can really give a definitive answer but I'm stumped as to what is the best solution and I'm pretty much posting this anywhere I think I would get an educated guess at best.
Thanks guys!
