The ole what game to get thread

Hi Guys

I just recently won the Xbox 360 through internode and can't wait for it to be delivered. While i get a copy of Mafia II with it, i was looking through the wall of my local video shop at what other games might be fun to check out but i'm really PC guy, which means i don't want to play games i've already got or can easily get on the PC.

I have a PS3 and again don't want to mix my games when i can get them on another console, so i'm looking for some great suggestions of games to check out but are pretty much exclusive to the 360. I googled for "best xbox 360 games" and got yself a short list but wonder if i missed anything?

Bayonetta
Halo wars
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise

Also, i know games like Gears of War get chucked around alot, but i recall playing it on the PC for all of 30 secs, i didn't like the controls, is this a case where a console could actually be better than a PC due to the type of game it is?

Don't have an Xbox... But I would get one for Fable 2... . I was surprised to see that not on your list.

And by the way, Red dead redemption and Bayonetta are exclusives to the Xbox.

I presume you mean aren't?

Both are arguably "better" on the 360, though - Bayonetta more so than Red Dead. Still more than playable on PS3, but RDR has a higher res and Bayonetta has better IQ and framerate on 360, AFAIK.

Well i was looking for those exclusive too the 360, BUT saying that, yes i had seen the reviews that said certain games look better on the 360, thus is why i'll check red dead for the first time on 360. bayonetta looks cool, like a god of war on PS3 so i thought i might enjoy it.

Fable 2, yeah i did like that on PC of course no sequel for PC, i might chuck that onto my list hey. Thanks.

Dead Rising - Zombies, nuff said.
Alan Wake - A highly underrated game imo, can be found cheap.
Splinter Cell: Conviction - Ignore any hate against this title, it's quite fun if a little short.
Left 4 Dead 1/2 - Awesome co-op and Zombies.
Mass Effect 1/2 - Unless you got a gaming PC, these are a must for your Xbox library.

If you havent already played Fallout 3 on the other platforms, its a must get!

i did check Fallout 3 on the PC but once the inital and very cool intro scenes had completed, it started to look like a standard shooter to me, but maybe the inspiration of fitting on the couch and playing will peek my interest.

I'm concerned at trying to shoot anything with those conmtrollers, though i've only used PS3 and i ALWAYS hear how the Xbox one is a tonne better

GOW/Halo series are my favorite games to play co-op, i have done GOW many times over and always enjoyed it so i would recommend giving it a go on the 360.

Some games off the top of my head:
Mass Effect 1/2
I myself didn't like Mass Effect but i know plenty of friends that enjoyed them so that might be one to look at.

Prototype
Got a bit repetitive towards the end however i still enjoyed the game

Assassins Creed 1/2
Similar to Prototype was fun it did get repetitive however i still enjoyed them both.

Fable 1/2
I liked Fable 1 better then 2 but i would still recommend them.

Lost Planet
was good never played the 2nd one but i didn't mind the first one.

The Darkness
I think it was based on a comic or something? game i thought was good and a bit different.

One game I personally really enjoyed was Devil May Cry 4, so if you like Bayonetta if you play it then maybe try that. The rest really has been said the main games I own are Halo and a couple games which I own on pc as well as 360.

A couple Arcade titles to try when you get around to it would be castle crashers and the banjo kazooie and perfect dark 64 remakes which are pretty darn good. Nice to play the old game but with a much nicer control style.

Shadow Complex is awesome if you enjoy old school metroid/Castlevania type games.

Should also check out Alan Wake. Very good 3rd person shooter.

Its up to you but a good game to try is "Just Cause 2" GREAT sandbox game where you can just do nerly anything you want haha like fly a plain with a moterbike attached to it or a car OR another jet that can get very interesting =)

Mass Effect series (1,2, soon to be 3)

A little surprised nobody mentioned it yet, but maybe look at Kinect? It's good for a laugh, though tiring. Give it a shot in a demo unit in a games store and see if you want to give that a shot. Kinect Adventures comes with it and is pretty fun, although short (only 5 types of mini-games).
