i was very dissapointed in this game. I thought i was enjoying it, tho i was wrong. I never check gameplay hours until i ahve finished a game, and reading that it took people 20+hrs to complete everything the game has to offer i expected around the same. I thought the number would of read 24 hrs, and it read 12. So if my brain added on a extra 12 hours, man it must of dragged on.

So you enjoyed playing the game, but the timer at the end that you looked at made you think you haven't?

I rented it out lastnight and I've been having a whole lot of fun. The parkour in particular stands out as incredible. Assassin's Creed may have defined the mechanic, but it was grounded by a relatively realistic interpretation of physics. Prototype's supernatural take is much more thrilling. I'll be buying it soon.

How on earth it got past the ratings board is beyond me. I can't help but wonder if it's going to go the route of GTA and get pulled off shelves. It's easily one of, if not the, most violent, explicit and disturbing game to see commercial release in Australia. Some of... no, most of the stuff you can do is... let's just say the ESRB must have been nodding off when Prototype passed through their radar.

Manhunt? Soldier of Fortune Payback (uncensored)? Mortal Kombat? They've got nothing on Prototype. Freeform play in a real-world city simulation full of civilians who are simply fodder to the pretty unnerving carnage the player can unleash? It's like GTA with a gore mod. I thought that kind of stuff is what ESRB field days are made of. Not to mention you can wreak all the havoc under the guise of some random street granny, housewife or executive.

If Prototype manages to stay on shelves, maybe there's hope for a decrease in censorship in Australia. That being said, when I tried to get it from the local Video Ezy, the lady working there told me it was already out to a young kid who'd had it for going on a week. As if it hasn't been said enough; the games aren't the problem, shitty parenting is.

If they game was made with more details textures etc I very much doubt it would have gotten through. In it's current stay though it looks pixelated enough to be okay imo.

I don't think the Jack Thompsons of this world concern themselves too much with pixel count though. If a game deals with a potentially controversial theme then it's usually targeted and sledged mercilessly. I mean, when Death Race came out it was criticised aggresively and made media headlines when it was panned on 60 minutes. Over what? A bunch of white lines on a black screen.

Sure, conventions have changed since then, but Prototype's presentation of violence is still quite provocative by today's standards. The clarity of the gore may not be cutting-edge, but it isn't what I'd call low-res either.

Yeah, I was surprised it got through when I was severing people's torsos from their legs and impaling people from a distance.

Agreed, I must say while I didn't mind absorbing people, the fact that my character felt compelled to punch theirs heads into nothingness before doing so was a little bit disturbing, especially when many of the people I did this to were just like scientist dudes walking along the street. I don't mind absorbing the guy for his memories/appearance, but do I have to be so vicious about it? I ended up stealth absorbing people so as not to feel like such an evil bastard.

That said: GREAT GAME. I wish they'd DLC some more missions for me!

i loved it, was great to see on some of the kill challenges when you cut a soldier in half and his legs keep walkin for a few meters, some of the devestator attacks are awesome, and i enjoyed grabbin people on the run then takin them straight up the walls

this game was "meh" to short, REALLY predictable but ye its was pretty fun jump of the empire state building

borrowed it, finished it, enjoyed it, love a game where the moves aren't stupidly complicated to pull off and are actually USEFUL! loved stealth killing entire bases wish the story was better and looking for WOI targets got annoying as they'd often just never show up during my travels and if they did they'd quickly get killed by infected etc before I could get to them :/

last level wasn't hard for me, finished first try, what was hard was the super hunter boss fight, ffs, ran around for 15minutes trying to hurt it but I just couldn't do any damage to it despite doing 1/3 damage early on somehow :/ eventually gave up and started spamming, almost died and the military burst in grabbed a tank and killed it in no time, was pretty annoyed at that

Pretty cool game. Random necros are a bit less fun though..
