Uncharted 3's "freak this time around" speculation

Unread postby Mugsy » 23 Jul 11, 6:39 am

OK, so in the previous two games, we had certain 'out of this world' elements to the bad guys we'd have battle:

Hidden: show
In Uncharted it was descendants of supernaturally mutated Spaniards (which would have made a great survival hoard mode enemy) and in the sequel, it was long living himalayan dudes who dress as yeti's.

Any thoughts as to what we might expect in this iteration? We have seen a flood of scarab beetles all over the walls and floor inside a tomb in one of the trailers. However, I'm sure I'm not the only one to say that scarab beetles don't really make the most compelling enemies to do battle.

So I did of wiki-ing and some of these guys might make it as potential enemies in some form or fashion (Naughty Dog have a way of tying the supernatural back to the real world and history):

Transexual super soldiers from the future sent back in time to manhandle Nathan to death!!

Sorry sadly that's the best (which is also the most twisted) I could come up with.

Seriously tho I'm really looking forward to this game... loved the first two. Anyone get around to playing the multiplayer beta?? I downloaded it.. what a waste that was... did not work once for me kept just looking for games and never finding them.

Needless to say this did not get me pumped for the multiplayer aspect!!

Is 3 having the full SP game playable as co-op this time around?? I hope so!

This reminds me of the last 'fight' scene in Austin Powers.

That's a shame. I didn't have too many problems getting online. I didn't enjoy the competitive play all that much compared to co-op, though, the level with the cargo plane taking off was something I couldn't get sick of.

The campaign remains single player but they are making the co-op missions more robust. The game also supports split screen online now which was available in the beta. I didn't touch this unfortunately... my bro and I couldn't even find time to tackle the beta online let alone have him come over to game in split-screen. It does mean that we just need to buy the one copy of the game... I admit I haven't touched Uncharted 1 or 2's campaign though it's probably because I've sat through and watched both games with my bro at the helm.

Thanks for the info Mugsy.. pity you didn't get to play 1 & 2 yourself, great games! Shame the full single player campaign isn't available in co-op for 3... but at least they're fleshing out the co-op modes more as you say... Co-op in Number 2 was pretty sweet so if it's even better than that I'd be happy.

And yeah I never got into "online" team/vs mode in 2 so probably didn't miss too much in that regards in the beta for 3! Still, total waste of a 1gig plus d/l lol
