Controllers won't work wirelessly

Unread postby Atmosphere » 6 Oct 10, 11:55 pm

Symptoms - turn on the console and have the controller connected via USB, lights 1&2 are lit up. As soon as I disconnect all four lights blink and I don't have any connection.

- if I shut down the console with the USB plugged in I can disconnect the controller and still turn on the console wirelessly but then the same symptoms occur.

- I have genuine dual shock controllers and a blu Ray remote. However the blu Ray remote works perfectly fine

What I've tried - I have reset the controllers in every possible combination ( console on, console off, USB plugged in etc etc)

- I have tried a friends controller and the same thing happens except his controller has no lights on at all when connected to the USB but it still works

- reassigned controller numbers

- power cycle ps3

- change USB ports and cables

- completely wiped the ps3/factory reset (resync controllers)

Anyone got ideas?

there is a tiny hole on the back on the ps3 controllers, i believe its a reset button, youll need something very small (pinhead size) to put in the hole.

its worth a try.

Wait, aren't you suppose to hit the PS Button once you disconnect the USB cable (im guessing you are powering on the PS3 with the button on the console?)

I had this once... can't remember how I fixed it.

I can only suggest resetting the PS3 controller, then pairing it again...

no joke i've tried this at least 40 times.

i've tried everything i've listed at least twice.

I really don't want to buy another ps3 just so i can play wirelessly.

I mean the bluetooth definitely works because the bluray remote works no problems at all.

Does the controller charge... I have heard of this happening when the controller hasn't got enough juice. Maybe try plugging the controller into your PC for a bit then into the PS3...

But yeah, it happened to me once before, could not explain it, controllers just would not connect. But then after some persuasion it came back, that was on my old Sony and I never had another issue since then.

yes i've rung sony , but the guy at the end of the line wasn't much help just tried to get me to return the controllers despite the fact that i've tried several.

And yes the controller actually do report being fully charged.

I just soooooo don't want to pay $500 for another PS3 as i just don't play it enough, but at the same time i play it enough to want to keep it.

if the controllers are under warranty, so is the ps3.
tell sony that you will return it all for a replacement/repair, just in case its not the controller.
