Wii U discussion thread

Unread postby PalZer0 » 14 Sep 12, 2:50 am

Fresh off the Nintendo Direct event, the Wii U's release date and price have been announced for Australia.

It'll be releasing November 30 - a full 8 days ahead of the Japan release. That's right. Australia is getting a Nintendo console AHEAD of Japan (in before "The Mayans were right", etc).

There will be 2 purchase options for the Wii U.

1. The basic package will be $349.95 and comes with a white console (8GB storage space) and GamePad (the name of the Wii U's tablet like controller).

2. The premium package will be $429.95 and comes with a black console (with 32GB storage) and GamePad, a stand for both the console and GamePad, a GamePad charging cradle, a sensor bar (used for backwards compatibility with Wii peripherals) and Nintendo Land software.

Both packs will include AC adapters for both the console and GamePad and also an HDMI cable.

Also, COD Black Ops 2 was announced for the Wii U and is said to be the best looking of all the console versions. Whether that turns out to be true or not remains to be seen.

Well, I'll be pre-ordering a Deluxe bundle soon!
The launch line-up isn't *terribly* inspiring, but hell, I'm a Nintendo tragic and I want the WiiU :)

Should be good to transfer all my Virtual Console/WiiWare games from my Wii that I've had since launch day. Every time I use it I fear it won't boot up again and I'll have lost all those games.

I would "Like' that post if the facility was there, but it is not. So this will have to suffice :P

Personally I don't see the point of getting a Wii U when the Wii I already have never gets used anyway.

Yet you create a topic on it...

It looks quite good, and I'll probably get one. I never owned the Wii.

Which I did because there wasn't an existing topic already (same with the iPhone 5 thread).

I go through phases, pretty much I play on whatever platform has the game I want to play. It's been a while since I've played anything on PS3, because I've been playing Sleeping Dogs and other stuff on PC instead. I do plan on playing Uncharted 3 and MGS2 soon though.
My Wii did have a long stretch of not being played, but I have still played it a shedload. Gonna play Project Zero 2 and NSMBWii pretty soon.

If you don't really enjoy Nintendo made games, then I would probably say you're better off not getting a WiiU. Majority of non-Nintendo games will be out on another platform anyway.
I just know I'll wet my pants at a fully 3D Mario game in HD.

Wow. Nintendo really did a balls up job on their Nintendo Network IDs.

Basically you can't use your own ID on another console.

One step forward (getting rid of friend codes) and 2 steps back. Typical Nintendo.

Don't you also need to pay .50c to make an account to ensure you're 18+?

Only if you're under 13.

EDIT: Even more issues are popping up - including one where someone accessed debug menus and the MiiVerse admin console.

Has any one bought one of these yet?

Are there any online games? I really like online stuff and Nintendo has always had the kind of classic games I liked to enjoy, I'd love to see some of it online.

My dream would be to see Mario Party Online.
