GAME UK's 'Top Twenty for Christmas'…

Unread postby PinothyJ » 30 Oct 11, 1:34 am

…has Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, Dead Island; but no Dark Souls.

This is the last time I recommend GUK -_-…

dark souls is a fairly niche game, that people either love or hate, so i can understand it not being on the list designed to only be loved.

i cant really comment on the popularity of any of the other games you mentioned as i havent played them or have any interest in them :)

looking at the rest of the list, it seems like a fairly solid top 20. i guess id also be struggling to think of games to put on the list instead of the ones you mentioned.

you realise these lists are for non-gaming parents and grandparents, so they know "what's a good one to get for the kids"..

I am going to have to disagree with you on that one as everyone I know has either bought, wants to buy, or talks about buying DS on a regular basis - more than say a title like Deus Ex. I was actually very surprised as I usually had to explain what Demon's Souls was all about and now it seems a hell of a lot of people are all over DS.

If I was bought a DS game as a wee kid my world would have been complete. I remember I did buy (or acquire) GTA when it was first released in my teens and look how that worked out for me.

I wonder how I would have turned out had I received a game like DS :/…

fair enough, but my experience working at eb games says ~75% of people i sold demon souls to returned it because it was "too hard", i wasnt working at eb when dark souls came out so i cant comment there.

seems like you might just travel in circles that enjoy DS, which is fine. power to you if you can actually play that game without throwing your controller across the room in frustration (like me).
