Random Choke and Poor Bullet Registration #20 Iceworld

Unread postby [OzG]mdma » 8 May 12, 4:21 pm

Hi guys,
I know this server is alot better than it used to be years ago. But there is still a consistent issue on this server with bullet registration, swaying from 1 team to the other.
It is frustrating to play on because of the above issues.
I've just left the server and anyone on my team was complaining about being killed b4 seeing their opponents, while the other team smashes you, this is not a once off. It happens daily. I would recommend some admins spend some time in there and check it out, and please dont play half a map, play a few in a row.
This server's lag/bullet registration issue seems to be limited to the Iceworld server. It doesn't occur on any the others that i play, or if it does, its no where near as often as #20.
Before people ask, yes my rates are fine, and i'm an internode customer. Other servers behave correctly.

Hey [OzG]mdma,

I normally play Iceworld a bit but lately have not had much time in the way of games. I will pop in to see what's going on but im really going to struggle to get in some game time over the next month or so. Based of what you have told me I really don't see how its going to be a client side issue.

There is no reason why 1 team would be affected by choke and another to be playing absolutely fine. The server doesn't differentiate connections by team so I am not sure how it is you have come to that conclusion. I am not saying that there isn't an issue its just the reasoning behind it is what I am trying to work out.

So I can look into this further, are you experiencing any choke/loss while playing? Is the server holding tick? While I understand you say you have your rates set correctly what is it that you have them set too? Is it happening only on full server or regardless of player size? Is it only happening at certain times? If so when?

If you can get me a little more detail it will help me work out the issue :)

Cozi.

Hi Cozi,
I thought id leave it for a bit to see if any other admins/players might jump in and or comment on it.
The server seems to hold tick for the most part slight fluctuations do happen but pretty normal, ie end of round/start of round, with some other random tick drops thrown in occasionally.
I do not know if it's got something to do more so when 1 team is winning, buying grenades and smashing the other team at start of a round with them or not. It can be very random.
It is not unusual for the loosing team having to deal with the grenade issue plus poor bullet registration, this is not always limited to the whole team. If a player joins the loosing team they either find themlseves in the same boat as the rest of the loosing team with poor registration, or you have good bullet registration, and instabink people by what seems as wallhacks becuase they don't even see you before they are dead.
I don't know how many wallhacker reports/demo's you get for iceworld, but i would say some of them are stemming from this issue and when played back with a demoviewer with no lag, everthing would seem legitimate. It is not uncommon for people including myself to be accused of hacking, but you have awesome registration, and the people accusing you don't. To them you seem to appearing from nowhere and instant killing them. This is the main main reason i've bought this up.
Generally you can reverse the effects of this by just retrying in console multiple times, until you know you're the one with the rego and its time to kill people and watch them complain.
This doesn't seem to matter if the server is quiet full, or if there is only 6 of you playing, i have seen people complain at either end of the scale.
Also recoil seems to be affected when you are having bullet registration issues.
I see so many people complain about it ingame, and i have tried to steer them to this forum to post, but as you can see they don't.
My ingame rates are usually 99% of the time
30000/100/100 or 25000/66/66 , i might occasionally change them when issues are happening to try and swing registration back, but its usually a few retries that fix it.

Sorry for the long winded post, i've tried to include some more info for you guys.
If you need/want any more help just let me know.

Regards :)

Edited, typo's

Had about an hour stint in there earlier today and didn't notice too much. In staying that I have made a couple minor changes earlier today so let me know if you still have any issues.
