PSPgo off to a good start
What with some retailers boycotting it and a not-inconsiderable price tag, I have been waiting for some sort of sales report along the lines of "PSPgo not meeting expectations". But here I am clutching a release stating the exact opposite! Australian results aren't in yet, but in the UK, the UMD-free console is apparently enjoying rapid adoption, perhaps helped along by a couple of special offers we Aussies are also eligible for.

Now Playing (1/08/09)
Welcome to this week's instalment of Now Playing, where each week, we trawl through bunches and bunches of recently released trailers in a bid to expose the most popular, most interesting, and even sometimes, the most boring video footage that you can possibly imagine.

This week, we take a look at the land of Pripyat, where we figure out what it is like to survive 40,000 years into the future. Once that is done, we exhume some historical musical icon that no one really cares about any more and reanimate their burnt out corpses in the digital realm, before learning about the sounds of war.

Finally, we see what it is like when a developer promotes a "very easy automatic mode" as one of the key features of the game that they are planning to release.

The Warp Pipe - 30/08/09
It’s the last weekend before the beginning of the traditional holiday rush, where players are flooded with new game releases and essentially spoilt for choice. We’ve all been through this rigmarole before and despite the fact that this year’s line-up is a little thinner thanks to key delays and early releases, we’re still going to be suffering from light wallets and a lack of free time by the end of November.

Like every holiday season before it, there are going to be winners and losers. This week, The Warp Pipe is going to focus on the wildcard releases of the holidays – the games that could be big hits, or fail to catch on.

Gran Turismo preorder bonus cars revealed
Alright, so preorder bonuses aren't very exciting - not all retailers participate, even assuming they turn up in your shopping territory - but when the details reveal some juicy new content to drool over, it grabs my attention! Five new cars appearing in the highly-anticipated PSP version of Gran Turismo have been revealed, and while it may disappoint you to not be able to score a voucher for one of these, there's nothing to say they can't be unlocked with a little - or a lot - of effort! Therefore, I see no reason not to spend a few minutes going "ooh" and "aah".

Gran Turismo PSP - new images speed into news
Before this year's E3 event, many people thought that Polyphony Digital's plans to release Gran Turismo on the PSP had all but disappeared. They were proven wrong when a bunch of information about the game was released during the trade show.

While we've still not heard all that much about the game, we do know that the game is set to be released in the US "just after" the first of October, and that we've just gotten our hands on some new images from the game, which look pretty impressive for the PSP.

Gran Tursimo will feature over 800 cars, 30 tracks (with 60 different layouts) and promises to run on the PSP at a silky smooth 60 frames per second, making it one of the most fully featured games on Sony's hand held platform.
