Why are FPS and RPG both three letter acronyms? It's because the two genres sit glaring at each other across a gaming divide, over which few dare cross, because apparently liking explosions and mana are mutually exclusive.
It's certainly true that JRPGs don't sell very well outside a tight demographic. Japanese developers tri-ACE are trying to overturn that, gain a broader audience for their upcoming action RPG Resonance of Fate, and break into global sales by the revolutionary move of making their characters less girly.

Each Tuesday, Games On Net haplessly brings you a selection of recently released trailers for video games, be they good, bad, memorable, or simply shocking, in an effort to make your Tuesday night a joy, or alternatively; a horror - it all depends on your mindset.
This week, we take a look at a number of fantasy-esque games in a number of ways. First there is Demon's Souls, a PlayStation 3 exclusive that suggests the demons within the black behemoth haven't yet fully been expelled. After that, we tend to the loss of our loved ones in Divinity II - Ego Draconis, in which we get excited about the fact that we can ride dragons around and torch things. Once we're done petting our lovely dragon, we turn to a more tame sort of steed, embarking on a journey atop a destrier delivering us to Darksiders: Wrath of War.
Once we're done riding our war horse into battle, we take a look at what the Japanese gaming world can expect from Resonance of Fate while nodding on confusion and awe, before finally retreating inward to our cave-like dungeon in Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman: What Did I Do to Deserve This?.

tri-Ace have released a shiny trailer for Resonance of Fate, their upcoming PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 RPG that focuses on action within a gritty world, while pushing the boundaries of the "typical RPG".
The trailer shows off some very impressive footage, with large, intricate environments, dramatic lighting, and fairly detailed character models. There's even some cloth simulation to boot!

SEGA have announced that they will, in partnership with tri-Ace develop and publish "brand new role-playing game" called Resonance of Fate for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
tri-Ace are the company behind the most recent instalments of the Star Ocean franchise, and are also renowned for the Valkyrie Profile series of role-playing games.
