Each week, we collate the most popular stories that we published over the past seven days, plus a lineup of the most downloaded files added in the same timeframe. That way, in case you missed something, you can catch up in one helpful little spot, every Monday morning.
Last week, our video review of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 proved to be the most popular. Another big title, Dragon Age: Origins was also popular, giving PC gamers, and RPG fans something to celebrate about. Some new Unreal engine freeware, Prometheus made its way into the news, thanks to the Unreal Development Kit, and the top five was rounded out by Infinity Ward's announcement that people who purchased Modern Warfare 2 early wouldn't be punished. Nice.

The music game genre has gone from cult status to a multi-billion dollar cash cow in just a few short years. Many of us are tapping away on plastic guitars, banging away on flimsy drum kits and screeching into microphones for hours on end.
That's not enough for Activision though. They want the DJs to get into the act as well, so they've put out DJ Hero, which just happens to be today's 2-Minute Review.

We're at the end of October, but the Q4 release season still has plenty to offer. This week's big release is Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, which will be available alone on the Xbox Live Marketplace, or together with The Lost and Damned add-on in disc form. Also of note this week is the PC release of Borderlands, the life consuming Football Manager 2010, DJ Hero and a couple of Dragon Ball games.
Don't forget to check out the full release schedule for the latest changes and information on upcoming games.

It seems as though this week's schedule is a little subdued compared to others so far this release season. All eyes will likely be fixed on Borderlands and Forza Motorsport 3, which both hit on Friday, but if you've got a bit of spare time and a DS handy, check out Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is also due out this week, though retail spies tell me that it may have already snuck out.

I had thought that the long and twisted tale of Activision's suspicious purchasing of original Scratch: The Ultimate DJ developers 7 Studios was over. The judge handed down a ruling, the contestants went their separate ways, and both rival DJ games continued development.
So it's finished, right? No! Another interesting little tidbit has surfaced that may sway how you view the whole fiasco, as reports filter in that almost half the 7 Studios staff have lost their jobs.

Only a few weeks to go until the unleashing of DJ Hero on a world grown weary of music games. Activision will need to pull out all the stops to convince a jaded public that splashing out on another plastic peripheral for the purpose of repeating the same formulaic gameplay - perhaps this complete set list outlining the game's entire catalogue of tracks will help convince you?
WARNING: List is frighteningly long. And kind of dull.

I really want to like Scratch: The Ultimate DJ. It has a lot going for it: it has the industry developed controller, it has the apparent moral highground, and it has a new developer promising to finish it off.
What it doesn't have is Daft Punk and DJ Jazzy Jeff, while rival DJ Hero most certainly does. Woe! Luckily these tidbits from the game's set list are quite tantalizing:

Gosh, remember when the set lists of DJ Hero and Scratch: The Ultimate DJ were basically composed of rumours and speculation, and kept changing every few days as both sides scurried to score exclusivity points of the other? Good times, but now firmly in the past; with DJ Hero just about six weeks away, the final offering must be pretty close to lockdown.
Hurrah! That means we can finally find out what's on it. Apparently, for one, Daft Punk.

It’s the last weekend before the beginning of the traditional holiday rush, where players are flooded with new game releases and essentially spoilt for choice. We’ve all been through this rigmarole before and despite the fact that this year’s line-up is a little thinner thanks to key delays and early releases, we’re still going to be suffering from light wallets and a lack of free time by the end of November.
Like every holiday season before it, there are going to be winners and losers. This week, The Warp Pipe is going to focus on the wildcard releases of the holidays – the games that could be big hits, or fail to catch on.

The Scratch: The Ultimate DJ saga has been long and torturous (and recently overlooked in burgeoning DJ Hero fever), but those of us carrying a torch for the vinyl-spinning title have a bit of good news today. Publisher Genius Products, left in the lurch when their contracted development team 7 Studios, were forced to pull out of the project, have signed on Commotion Interactive to complete the game.

The list of big names involved with DJ Hero, Activision's contribution to the suddenly densely populated DJ game scene, just keeps growing. You can tell that a project is stirring some interest when people like myself, completely disinterested in any of the genres of music involved in the game, are able to recognise a pioneering figure or two. The latest face to wander across my screen to a chorus of "hey, isn't that the guy who...?" is DJ Jazzy Jeff, known to popular culture as the non-Will Smith half of The Fresh Prince

So - they're making a big fuss over DJ Hero, but Activision haven't forgotten the little man, the kid who dreams of growing up to be a rock god, the guy jammin' out on his funky funky air guitar... and to prove it, they've taken the wraps off of the band lineup for Guitar Hero 5.
Including some of the biggest rock artists and the most prolific bands of all time, Guitar Hero 5 is set to rock out in more ways than you can imagine - with any combination of instrument controllers. Play your way through the most diversified set-list to date, with more than 80 bands tackling more genres than you can poke a stick at.

Activision have announced that they have partnered with Jay-Z and Eminem, to bring "some of their popular songs" to DJ Hero. Along with this, a "special branded edition" of DJ Hero will be released, complete with an "advanced" version of the game's controller, a metal travel case, (that transforms into a "performance ready DJ stand"), and two "exclusive CD compilations" that feature the "greatest hits" and new mixes from each artist.
Both Jay-Z and Eminem will contribute to the game post-launch, with both planning to provide downloadable content for the game after the game is released.

Will we have StarCraft II by the end of the year?
Sure, if Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime is to believed. He just made the announcement to a gathering of Activision Blizzard investors and media, as part of the company's pre-E3 press conference.
While the Activision part of the event was understandably dominated by Guitar Hero, DJ Hero and Modern Warfare 2, Mike didn't really make any great announcements about what Blizzard are up to - except the hopeful release date for their next RTS.

This year's E3 lineup is getting beefier and bulkier with every email that filters across the internet - and now we can share with you the "robust slate" of new titles being promised from Activision Publishing.
Predictably, they're headlining their collection with the eagerly-anticipated Modern Warfare 2, which they're claiming is looking like being one of this year's best-selling titles. They're also planning debuts of DJ Hero and Guitar Hero 5, promising to again transform the way gamers engage with music games.

If you've been following our coverage of the Genius Products vs Activision scandal over the latter publisher's acquisition of developer 7 Studios, and the supposedly resultant delay to Genius Product's title Scratch: The Ultimate DJ, you'll know that Activision recently announced that the L.A. Superior Court ruled in their favour, concluding that their was no proof of wrongdoing by Activision, and refusing to grant any restraining order against them.
In a surprise twist, however, Genius Products have released their own statement, in which they detail the court's ruling in their favour, and ordering 7 Studios to hand over all source code, developer tools and technology related to Scratch: The Ultimate DJ within five days of the April 15th ruling. 7 Studios are also barred from releasing any information regarding the title they had in development for 18 months to new owners Activision by an injunction; so while no order was filed against Activision per se, their statement now looks to have contained quite a few glaring omissions.

Buying your rival's development team for the sole purpose of delaying their game -- that would be a pretty clever trick.
But Activision Publishing today denied Genius Products' allegations that their purchase of Scratch: The Ultimate DJ developer 7 Studios had anything to do with an attempt to promote their own upcoming DJ Hero ahead of the competing product.

If you're impatiently awaiting the latest generation of plastic-peripheral waving music titles, you may have to wait a little bit longer while the publishers of both upcoming DJ sim games sort out a few... issues. In short, Activision, the publishers of DJ Hero, recently acquired 7 Studios, and this has raised hackles with rival publishers Genius Products, whose game Scratch: The Ultimate DJ is being developed by none other than - you guessed it - 7 Studios themselves. Is that a problem? Apparently so - Genius Products are currently engaged in an attempt to sue the pants off both of them.

Robert Kotick CEO and Chairman of Activision Blizzard has stated that DJ Hero, a "new product" will launch later this year. The announcement was made at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Previously, it was announced by DJ Tiesto that he had been working with Activion Blizzard on a game of the same name.
With Kotick having spilt the beans earlier this week adding that the game will be released this year combined with the previously lodged trademark - cements the rumour that DJ Hero is indeed in development.

Those of you who like your music a little more cut-up, a little more electronic - your time is now. While Guitar Hero publishers Activision haven't yet confirmed anything, Dutch music star DJ Tiesto has let the cat out of the bag, stating that he's recently teamed up with the publishers to help develop the game's first spin-off, the creatively-titled DJ Hero.
This is not the first time the name's been thrown around, and it's not an official announcement, but, for music fans, it's pretty much the next best thing.
