The release schedule has settled down a lot coming into April, but the effect seems to be a distinct reduction in the number of lower quality games. This week’s highlights include the bloody platforming romp The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai for Xbox Live Arcade, the continued bullet bending adventures of Wesley Gibson in Wanted: Weapons of Fate and a Nintendo DS RPG triple threat in the form of Disgaea DS, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time and Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume.

In news that surprised almost nobody at all, it would seem that Maxis' underwhelming new creature feature, Spore, has become the prime target of pirated downloads this year according to a leading torrent site. While there's no way we can take a survey of the reasons why people would be downloading it illegally, we've got a couple of guesses as to why they might - at least in terms of Australian gamers.
There's also a nifty run-down of the top 10 pirated PC games for 2008, if you're curious about that kind of thing. Of course, you'll need to check out the full post to read about all the others.

The Holiday flood begins this Thursday with the release of an ungodly amount of games, including Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, Crysis Warhead and Wipeout HD, and doesn’t stop until the week before Christmas. To save you all a bit of time, I like to run through the release list at the start of a given quarter, and make sweeping generalisations as to the quality of upcoming games.
Last week’s Warp Pipe covered the games of October, so this week we’re looking at November’s big hitters, including Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead and Mirror’s Edge.
