I don't understand why there aren't more Wii titles using the balance board in more interesting ways than to regularly chastise you for those potato chips. Last year's Skate It, a spin off of the Skate series in which the balance board became your deck, was a step in the right direction, and was quite well received, so naturally we're starting to see more iterations on the same theme, including the recently announced Skate City Heroes. If the game's slightly cutesy look and inclusion of combat are anything to go by, we're looking at some more along the lines of an action-adventure title than a serious simulation, but maybe the controls will be scaled down to match, meaning less opportunities to sprain your ankle mastering a difficult trick system. Ouch.

With some big name games released this week (and still more to come), most of you are probably off in various worlds with Lich Kings, Sack people and zombies. But if your are one of the ones still waiting around for their game of choice to be released, check out some of the new trailers we got this week.
This week we head to Persia to learn how to climb walls and Skate It. We look at some Chronicles and Commandos. The Last Remnant is out in force and causing two different universes to collide in Kombat.

EA has just announced the soundtracks for Skate 2 and Skate It. Weighing in at 52 pieces of music, it's a fairly hefty soundtrack - which features the likes of Black Sabbath, Public Enemy, Judas Priest and Wu Tang Clan, along with many other artists.
The soundtracks encompasses most genres, though it is dominated by a large amount urban music, along with a bunch of rock and metal. We've got the entire track listing for you to take a look at, along with some recently released new screenshots.

The Holiday flood begins this Thursday with the release of an ungodly amount of games, including Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, Crysis Warhead and Wipeout HD, and doesn’t stop until the week before Christmas. To save you all a bit of time, I like to run through the release list at the start of a given quarter, and make sweeping generalisations as to the quality of upcoming games.
Last week’s Warp Pipe covered the games of October, so this week we’re looking at November’s big hitters, including Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead and Mirror’s Edge.

This has been a huge week for announcements. Lists, expansions and of course a heap of new trailers. As the Q4 releases get close and closer, each week we have been sent a heap of new trailers made just tease us that little more on the fact they aren't out yet.
This week we look at a classic 3D game. We continue to form our band and look at becoming a saint. We check out where our board can go, even if it is undercover. Lastly we finish off by finding something unleashed.

When we announced the Best of Games Convention recently, we commented on the fact that the "Best Wii Title" was a serious, sports title, rather than the latest installment of a well-loved cartoon franchise.
Some of you wanted to know more about Skate It, the new skateboarding title being developed by EA, and your wish is our command. Today, we have a brand new video for you, which gets a producer's-eye view of the game, and some of the controls involved.

Well, Games Convention is over again for another year - perhaps the last to be held in Leipzig! Don't get too upset just yet, we'll be sorting through the information we've received for a little while yet.
First off the blocks, however, is the sixth-annual "Best of GC" awards, handed out to the most innovative new products on show at Games Convention. This year, there were nine categories - chosen from 29 exhibitors who entered 122 hardware items and software titles - nearly a 50% increase on 2006, which saw a mere 85 submissions.
The envelope please...

They say ask and you shall receive and it seems someone was listening to me. Yesterday I said I'll be keeping an eye out for gameplay videos for EA's Skate It and I wake up today to find both the Wii and DS movies on how the controls will work.
However they don't show the use of the balance board, crossing my fingers someone listens to me today, but it does show how the Wii-mote and stylus will be used to do tricks.

If you're big into your skating games and couldn't get a chance to play EA's SKATE since it was only released on PS3 and Xbox 360, you're in luck!
EA has announced that Skate it, a new game based off the same popular innovative controls of the original. But this time it is for Wii and DS only. That's not all, it will also use the Wii's new balance board to keep with the smart and new control systems players loved in the original.
