Happy Birthday, Lord of the Rings Online. Not only is there some news on Book 8 but it's party time. To mark this wondrous occasion Gollum and Turbine want past subscribers to attend the festivities. That's right; all accounts are re-activated for a short limited time! And there are all sorts of enticing incentives for old and new players alike.
Experience wise, there's the 25% experience bonus but sadly it vanishes in a few more days so take action now. The famous special US $9.99 subscription rate is also being offered for the three, six, or twelve month options. (US servers only.) And monsters in game will be dropping a range of special items which can be turned-in for special anniversary gift boxes. On June 30th, the promotion finally wraps-up with all active subscribers receiving the writ of passage which makes stable master travel 20% cheaper.

If you'd been planning on spending your Wednesday afternoon in reality, instead of frolicking with the elves in The Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria you may want to reconsider your decision. Turbine have just released Book 7: Leaves of Lórien for the game which adds a number of new features, while at the same time continuing the epic story of the successful MMO.
With the introduction of Book 7: Leaves of Lórien, swashbuckling adventures will be able to embark on a new 12 player raid called Strange Happenings, that occurs in in the Waterworks of Moria. New game play enhancements are also added, with daily quests, and the ability to fully explore the region of Lothlórien.

It is no secret that games based on films are usually bad. One potential cause of the issue is that developers are often given tough time-frames and limited budgets when it comes to Hollywood tie-ins, which leads to corners being cut, not enough time for QA, and a fairly minimal likeness to the film.
While some of that is changing slowly, it seems that Warner Bros. Interactive may lead the charge on Mordor - having recently re-acquired exclusive rights to develop, publish and release games based on Tolkien's Lord of the Rings universe.

2009 has been a bit iffy so far, but that’s about to change as we creep into February. Chrono Trigger makes its PAL debut on the DS, only fourteen years after the original SNES release (and three months after everyone else), R-Type Dimensions storms onto Xbox Live Arcade to cause many an expletive and thrown controller and The Lord of the Rings Online ventures into the Mines of Moria for its first expansion.
Don’t forget to check out the full release schedule for the latest changes and information on upcoming games.

It’s a Lord of the Rings post which means I get to talk about Hobbits. Hobbits are so swell. They aren’t filthy but mostly they are dandy and dapper creatures, some are gregarious and others not so. One common element shared by all Hobbits is their love for scrumptious pastries and hearty spirits. And a little special pipe tobacco shared with friends late into the night, which is also a favorite pastime amongst many The Lord of the Rings Online players. No, I do not play as a Hobbit and I am not a Hobbit lover - are you kidding? I play Dwarf! I eat you Hobbits for breakfast.
Maybe Turbine should be punished for releasing Mines of Moria so close to Wrath of the Lich King. It is a bit reckless to release a first expansion alongside the behemoth's expansion that is crushing every other MMOG out there. If you haven’t played LotRO, or if you have in the past and since abandoned it, maybe the following videos showcasing the mystical linguists, citizen soldiers, an epic raid, and a dev diary with Jeffrey Steefel will entice a return there and back again.

Not too long ago, Brenna shared a number of new trailers from Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria the upcoming expansion to The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Today, we've received a brand new developer diary, in which the roles of the new classes, The Runekeeper and The Warden are discussed in regards to gameplay mechanics.
There is also some footage of each class in action, and of course commentary from developers working at Turbine. It looks as though each new class will add some new dynamics for group-based combat, with both new characters capable of inflicting large amounts of damage on the enemy through the use of powerful spells. The new classes are also capable of healing themselves, and their party-members.

Well as people spend this week creating their own worlds and life, in the real world I have been waiting to see what trailers have appeared this week to tempt my wallet to give up cash.
This week we launch off the ramps for some tricks, re-live our dreams of being in a band and going about conquering the world. We see if dodgeball is the solution to an internet battle, which may stir a crysis. Lastly we delve deep into the mines as it expands.
