Coming Attractions - 16/09/09
This week’s Coming Attractions is brought to you by broken street dates and clearance sales. Many of the games marked for release tomorrow, like Colin McCrae DiRT 2, Need for Speed SHIFT and NHL 10 should already be available in stores now, unless your local game shill is one of those ones that plays by the book. There is also a few neat console ports hitting the PC this week, namely destructor-sim Red Faction Guerilla and Resident Evil 5.

From next week on, we’ll be bringing Coming Attractions to you on Mondays, mostly in an effort to avoid street date breaches messing up our hard work. Don’t forget that you can check out our full release schedule for any updates and changes.

Now Playing (30/06/09)
Another Tuesday means that it is time for your weekly dose of Now Playing, where each week, Games On Net brings you a selection of the most interesting and sometimes boring trailers released recently.

This week, we start the festivities with a new developer diary from Dark Void, which kind of reveals why people probably won't get the game when it is released. After that we get extremely unnerved by bizarre marketing courtesy of Saints Row 2 which questions my faith in humanity. After that, we declare war on the world, by embarking on a journey into Massive Action Game. After that, we fail to learn how exactly Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came to be (we're told it was magic), before finally settling a childhood rivalry with a not so Mega Man.

Coming Attractions - 04/02/2009
2009 has been a bit iffy so far, but that’s about to change as we creep into February. Chrono Trigger makes its PAL debut on the DS, only fourteen years after the original SNES release (and three months after everyone else), R-Type Dimensions storms onto Xbox Live Arcade to cause many an expletive and thrown controller and The Lord of the Rings Online ventures into the Mines of Moria for its first expansion.

Don’t forget to check out the full release schedule for the latest changes and information on upcoming games.

A Steamy trio of updates for a scorching day
With the temperature here in Adelaide forecast to hit 41 degrees Celsius today, a trinity of news regarding happenings on Valve's digital distribution platform, Steam has fittingly landed on my desk.

Firstly - there is an update for Garry's Mod, and another for Saints Row 2. Finally, the trinity of news is rounded by something suitably F.E.A.Rsome, with users now able to pre-purchase F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin via the digital distribution platform.

The Warp Pipe - 14/12/08
With Christmas rapidly approaching, The Warp Pipe is calling time for 2008. After 45 columns without a break this year, I’m clocking off a little early to read a few books, watch some movies, replay some of 2008’s best games and of course, fly to Queensland to spend Christmas with the family. The Warp Pipe will be back on the 18th of January with a few minor tweaks and a couple of bold predictions for 2009.

Speaking of bold proclamations, The Warp Pipe made a few just before the start of the second, third and final quarters of the year. I thought we’d use the final column of the year evaluating my ability to predict the quality of soon-to-be-released video games.

This week we look at a classic 3D game. We continue to form our band and look at becoming a saint. We check out where our board can go, even if it is undercover. Lastly we finish off by finding something unleashed.

The Warp Pipe - 14/09/08
2008 has been a little different from the standard industry year, in that we’ve seen a lot of major titles released outside of the holiday shopping season. Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots were all released in the first half of the year. One would think that that might make for a less than stellar holiday line up, but the game publishers of the world (bar Nintendo) are inclined to prove otherwise.

Over the next two weeks (due to the sheer number of releases), The Warp Pipe will be boldly predicting the quality of new games in the next quarter.

Saints Row 2 rated in Australia, GTA IV appealed in NZ
While it seems that a lot of the news involving video games and the Classifications Board is fairly negative, detailing just which games you won't be able to buy in this country, today we've got some news that will turn the tides a bit.

THQ are pleased to announce that their upcoming sequel, Saints Row 2 has been granted an MA15+ rating (due to strong violence, sexual references and coarse language), meaning anyone in Australia over the age of 15 will be able to purchase the game unrestricted when it hits our shores on October 16th.

Even better? The publishers have confirmed that the game has not been edited for the Australian market!
